Reputable Shops in the South Bay

Hi All - I'm a new 370z owner (picked her up on Monday!) and was thinking of installing an oil cooler. I noticed the engine getting really warm on Monday (~200deg) but has been around 170-180 since. I'm definitely going to use full synthetic (probably redline) on my next scheduled oil change but I think I need the cooler as well just in case...

Are there any shops locally in the SJ area that have a lot of experience working on Z's? Price is a factor, but I wouldn't mind paying a little more for a quality installation.

Thanks!

I basically live across the street from ZCarGarage...everytime I pass by I wish I had the Stop-Tech brakes off of their red 370z (plus it would look really good on a white 370Z, right??? lol). Anyway, that must be your blue Z that I've spotted recently over there. I thought that they had another shop Z in blue. I have to say that blue looks great in person.

Off topic, but we should have a mini meet sometime. I work off of Technology, so I pass by ZCG everytime I eat at Sushi Coast.

Absolutely. I'm also really close to SJ airport. Maybe we can coordinate a mini group buy w/ zcar? Possibly an oil cooler? :)

I've heard good things about the shops quoted by others as well. Not to open this up again, but the temps you post are pretty low. Most of us consider 180 - 220F to be normal, 220-240F to be pretty warm, and anything over 240F to warrant an oil cooler.

How long have you had the car and what's the highest temp you've hit? I also live in the Southbay and in the summer at about 100 ambient temp, my oil temp got up to 240F max in stop and go traffic. On the freeway, it usually doesn't go over 220.

tomnavone- Your car looks great! *thumbsup*

LiuTangClan 11-13-2009 10:41 PM

I've only had the car for 11 days. I was actually reading the gauge wrong (really lame...), it was close to 200-210. I realize it's still pretty low but I was taking it REALLY easy (shifting between 2000-2500 RPMs) since I'm still breaking her in. So with the combination of the cold weather lately and the low RPMs, I'm still surprised by the higher temps. I know I'm overreacting but it's hard not to want to protect my baby :)

I think in your case, you should drive it for a few thousand miles. The usual case is that, once the car gets a few thousand miles, the temps aren't as high as they were when you first drove it.

Your car looks beautiful bro! I really like the idea of blacking out the fangs. Has anyone seen how it looks on a pearl white z? Does it look good?

209Z 12-28-2009 12:35 AM

tom..paint ur handles same color as car or same black as wheels and will look clean. Thats what i did. will post pics when i can.
