Mods in CA?

I've been trying to do some research on what I can do with my car in California but can't find anything. What mods can you do legally?

Legally? Stillen G3 CAI and any exhaust of your choice.

I've been pulled over before. Suspension, HFC, dark tints, intake, exhaust, no front plate; didn't have a problem. A lot of it will have to do with how much of a little wanker you're being and the cop that's pulling you over.

Front tint has got to be the most ticketed offense in CA. After so many tickets, I finally took them off for good. For all you guys with no front plate, consider getting one of the flip out mounts. Hfc you can get away with, most cops can't tell the difference

You'll have to take the hfc off before smog.

What part of CA are you from? Cops in my area don't look twice at tint unless you're driving like a mad man. I've sat next to cops at stoplights with my windows up and everything.

I heard you can pass smog with hfc's. .. in California, but if they look under car you'll fail ? Or if they put that thing in tail pipe not sure which one you'll fail on ?

You might pass the sniffer (I doubt it)
And you'll for certain fail the visual test.

cant screw with the smog guys, its tuff here in CA:shakes head:

Heck yeah it's tough. My gf has a Miata and it apparently failed the visual because even though it's an OEM Mazda Miata cat, the serial on the cat doesn't fully match the one for the 1992 model.

While we are at it, does anyone know if the nismo CAI comes with a carb sticker or no?

Absolutely Not. There is no product warranty either.

Only CARB approved intake is the stillen G3. But if you want the nismo CAI its easy enough to remove before and replace back to OEM.
