North jersey: check engine light/scanner

I have an 09' 370z manual trans with 41k miles. So prior to this engine light I had this rattling noise when I pushed the gas around 3k rpm. This morning I turned the car on and drove about 1/4 mile down the street of my house., and the car completely shuts off. What should I do ? Replace battery? Call geico and have them tow it to nissan?

I spoke with chuck in the forum and he had mentioned getting the code. Is there anyone in north jersey area near Montclair that has a scanner???

Why don't you hit up an AutoZone? I think they can pull a code for you for free if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah I might just tow it to autozone ?

Well if all you want is to get a code pulled then Autozone can do that

The whole point of the thread was to hopefully have him avoid having to tow the car somewhere in order to read a code.

I'm reading some stuff on here ... I have to say I'm bummed. I hope it's not a major problem...

Ok guys I just got my car back. Turned out to be a major issue and thank Goodness I purchased an extended warranty. Take a look at what would have made me $11,000 poorer according to nissan......

I don't even understand some of the things on this list ...I'm just glad I got that extended warranty and paid the $50 deductible.
