Hello everyone, my name is Matt, I have been an installer for 8 years now. My audio installs is a part time side job, however I work as a I.T. guy. We got our new van a few weeks ago and the stock system was not cutting it for me.
Stage 1 Head unit install I decided to go with something that could give me expandability and features but also not something that would blow the budget. The JVC KW-R900BT fit the bill nicely. I am a alpine guy all day and kenwood is a close runner up, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone on this one and go with a different brand all together. On to the pictures. Few of the parts http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...023_161708.jpg Ran the mic on top of the A pillar, no problem with echo or noise. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...015_135637.jpg As I do all my work, I soldered and marine grade heat shrunk all the wires, sadly I was in a rush and did not take a picture of this. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...023_164733.jpg Wires ready to go. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...023_164741.jpg Routed the USB #2 port to the glove box, very simple to do. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...023_165639.jpg Head unit installed in the metra dash kit. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...023_165644.jpg Installed with trim ring http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...023_182324.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...023_182255.jpg |

Hey bud, I have a sport+touring, and I wanna upgrade my system... I already have (uninstalled) a 13TW5v3 and a Wicked C.A.S. enclosure... I also have a JL HD900.5 amp.. I'm stuck when it comes to speakers... I honestly dont know my speaker size, or what I need to do next. I've heard I have to rip out all the Bose wires and get a new head unit. If you could give me some insight or even a phone call to point me in the right direction for the speakers I need to get and what to do next, I would greatly appreciate it... Thank you!!

Help needed
Hello big,
I have a base model 370 Z and would like to upgrade the system. I was wondering you could point me in the right direction. I have ordered a Kenwood 6990hd, and am planning on doing the install myself. The problem I have is I do not know much about components. I have a budget of $ $400-$700. Can you give me some component suggestions? I’m curious what you would do given this budget. I listen to a variety of music from metal, rap, jazz, and classical. I like the idea of adding a sub, but I don’t know if I should upgrade the door speakers and do 1 amp to power everything. Thanks for your advice. |
The owner contacted me asking for a clean basic stereo install. Nothing crazy but he did want a little flare to it. I went ahead and put together an idea and went to work.

Spacers were made and will later be routed and painted, fallowed by upholstery. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps059f6bfa.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...pse306dc3b.jpg A new dash was made (not by myself) and the display was installed. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...psea947f6c.jpg A bracket was made to install the brain as well on the back wall. The one strip going along the back wall has a gap behind it and worked well as a place to secure everything without going through the wall. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps98fb1b2f.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps98628e8a.jpg |
The customer did want rear speakers so I made a set of basic boxes and mounted them level and flat, as the back wall is actually angled back.

Still need to add the plexiglass and logo. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...psbc47176f.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps240d5fe6.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps160488ae.jpg |

Are you still doing installs? I'm piecing a system together with some other stuff and was wondering how much you charge for labor for speakers, sub, amp, back up camera + GTMat.
