Maryland Z's: Front License Plate Or Not?

Just curious who in MD has the front plate on their car.
Have you been pulled over?

I just bought mine from a dealership in PA, so the previous owner did not have a plate on the front. In my Civic I used to get pulled over for this...it is a $50 fine. Not sure if I will put it on the front though.

I have my plate on the front.

Well, I got pulled over the other day for not having the license plate on the front. $70 fine. Is there a way I can somehow secure it without drilling holes into the front?

You can get the Stillen mount that screws into the hole for your front tow hook.

If that is the least damaging way to do it, I suppose I will go that route.

There is no damage using the Stillen kit except for the plate ruining the look of the front. I have the Stillen kit and it works great.

I realize I'm a VA resident but we also require a front license plate. Originally the body shop was going to have me just put the front plate on the dash while driving but I knew that wasn't a very good idea. My solution is a bit more intense than most but I already had intentions of removing the horizontal "slats" in the front bumper and use mesh. The end result?

Legal because it's on the car....visible so Mr. Officer can still see it.....and it doesn't screw with the look of the front bumper. ;)

You would get "obstructed plate" in 2 seconds in NJ... that being said I still don't run mine but they def wouldn't be ok with that.

I just keep the front plate to avoid the hassle, but yeah, the Stillen mount works well.

I run without a front plate and haven't had any issues yet. Though I do have a reasonable excuse if I do get pulled over.

First month I owned the Z I got pulled over twice by UMD campus police, once by PG County police, and twice by MD State Troopers. All were warnings but it was getting old getting pulled over so I just gave in and put it on. Was not worth the hassle for me.

Just ordered the Stillen mounting bracket! How easy is installation? Will I have to remove the grille or anything?

Very easy. There is a plastic piece you remove to access the tow hook access. The instructions walk you through it.
