Reasonable dealers NY/NJ
I apologize in advance if this is a reposted thread. As I begin my search for most likely a black 09 with Sport Package, I want to compile a list of reasonable dealers in the NY/NJ area. I have already dealt with some snooty people just going for a test drive. I plan on going to all the dealers I hear people have had good experiences with, I live on Long Island but would definitely be willing to travel a few extra miles. I just went through the list of sponsoring dealers here on the forums and noted those in the area. Thanks!

Flemington Nissan isn't to bad, if you interested i'll give you the number of a good salesman

I have a contact at Pine Belt Nissan. Between myself and a few friends and family we've sent over 12 people to him over the past 5-6 years. So if you need a good dealer ask for Rich Hendrickson @ Pine Belt Nissan. Tell him Mike (Armada) & Frank (Frontier) sent you over and he'll take good care of you.

Noted, thank you. I really think a list like this will be beneficial as more people start their search for a Z. Based solely off internet pricing (I don't know if that is an accurate measure or not) many dealers on LI are posting Z's for way too much, but hey I guess they get the occasional sucker. Also, sending more people to reasonable dealers rewards those Nissans who treat customers well. What goes around comes around!
That being said, any more? |

Ha! Sounds like sending a clear message like that tends to get stubborn dealers' attention.
|
Don't bother with any of the dealers in Brooklyn or Queens. I went to all of the Nissan dealers in Brooklyn and I went to two in Queens. They're a waste of time.
I bought mine from the Nissan dealership at Hasbrouck Heights; they were definitely reasonable, but I'm sure there's other dealerships in Jersey which are stellar. I don't really have a clue as to what the current disposition of dealer stock/inventory is currently, but I think you should still be able to score a Z below MSRP. |
Good Luck!
I had a hard time finding my z. |
Bobby F. sold me the Z, and Ed W. sold me my truck. Both were more than willing to take time out and show you the car, answer all your questions, were kind and curtious, and they both exceeded my expectations. I spent alot of time in all the Flemington dealerships and the 2 of them really come out on top. I'll personally vouch for Ed that he'd treat anyone with the same respect as he did me.

Ramsey Nissan... The only dealership out of 4 that didn't screw me over. By far the biggest and nicest Nissan I've been to, and they have a showroom specifically for Z's. I went from six to midnight when I saw it.

I bought my Z in June 09 at Koeppel Nissan in queens. Pretty good experience. When I pulled out the invoice sheet the salesman was like, "where did you get that". LoL. When I went to Nissan of Manhattan no one ever came to the showroom, too busy not selling cars I guess so I just left. Nissan of New Rochelle wouldn't even give me a test drive without a deposit, I'm like wow there treating it like it's a GTR, I think it was the only Z that they had. Koeppel Nissan I believe is the largest Nissan dealership in the NY. If anything I spoke to a salesman named Saiful, I can get you his number if you want.
|
yeah koeppel nissan is where i got my 370 back in september, really good dealership.
|
Ok so I am gonna start a list here, and will PM once I start making the trips to these dealers for the numbers of people that will be good to deal with. I guess its important to note that this is somewhat subjective and can surely vary.
Reasonable dealers, NY/NJ: 1- Koeppel - Queens NY 2- Ramsey - Rt 17 NJ 3- Hasbrouck Heights Nissan - NJ 4- Pine Belt Nissan - Keyport* NJ 5- Flemington Nissan - 202 Flemington NJ |

Funny story, I absolutely freaked out at the dealership.. I had signed the papers at my local Nissan to get a Z that Ramsey had. My dealership lied and said they could, and continued lying until I took matters into my own hands and called Ramsey myself. They said they're not doing the swap, so I demanded my deposit back and told a salesman at Ramsey I'd be there the next day to buy it. When I get there after an hour drive, he says "see that spot on the floor? The car was there 20 mins ago. It just got swapped." I flipped mainly b/c I had signed the papers on that same car a week before and felt like I got completely screwed (wasn't Ramsey's fault). Luckily, they had the same car minus touring but I had them install leather with two-toned suede inserts plus I'm going aftermarket for headunit/nav/sound system so it turned out better for me in the long run. To OP, the shitty dealership in that story was Staten Island Nissan. Worst. Dealership. Ever. I also ran into an issue with Red Bank Nissan, so I'd stay away from there. And Sansone on rt. 1 is a joke of a dealership. So I'd say avoid those 3 but definitely visit Ramsey. |

OP let me know if you are going to Ramsey, I got a hook up for you! |
Noob question, what is OP?
|
I got mine from Acme Nissan in South Brunswick, NJ. They were easy to deal with, but then again I got VPP pricing.

Haha good to know thanks. My name is Pat by the way. To give those who offered contacts an idea of my plans, I want to get the car in the beginning of the spring once the likelihood of snow for this year is pretty low.

6- Bruce Bennett Nissan - Rte 7 Wilton, CT |
For Long Island, DO NOT go to Massapequa Nissan, they screwed up my dads 2010 Maxima, as well as my friends 09 Altima, all wrong delivery dates, and the sales help was non existent.
DO try, Habberstad Nissan in Huntington. That's where I got my Z, and my moms Murano. NO problems whatsoever. They covered the flat-bed cost to transport my Z from PA, and got they took care of us VERY well. Last time i was there, my salesman was not there. But if so, fantastic. UB, and if he's not there, ask for John. Great help, and don't smother you. |

Steve- you're sending a NY customer to CT?! J/K I know Bruce Bennett is a great dealership.
Whenever you are ready, come to Koeppel. I have autos and sticks for immediate test drive, just ask for myself and I will make sure you are taken care of! BTW- my name is joe clem |
Conicelli Nissan in PA.
I bought mine there -- can't say enough awesome things about them. I'd stay away from Classic Nissan in NJ though. |

I was disappointed that I didnt get a chance to test the synchro-rev in a sports package, but it was still incredibly fun. As soon as I pulled out onto Jericho Tpke, an STi pulls up next to me and wants to run! Obviously I didnt go for the bait, but thought it was interesting how much attention the car demands. Anyway, I told them I was looking to buy in early April and they didnt jump down my throat or anything, was in and out of there in just 30 minutes so I was pleased. I am sure I will visit there next month when I am ready to buy. Thanks all for the contributions and such, if theres more info to share I would love it, can never be too informed when entering the shark tank! |

His name was Brian Klein. He didnt make a great first impression to be honest, told me the BASE I test drove had an MSRP of 35,xxx. I politely told him that price was way too high after which he corrected himself and told me the model I drove was a touring (non-sport) it just didnt have the navi, but included heated seats, XM radio, etc. In any case, he seemed to be a pretty nice guy.
|
hm, i do not recognize that name. good luck tho.

Speaking with Smithtown Nissan, they say there are no Base - Spt Pkg Z's on Long Island but they could swap for one that is in Pennsylvania. They want to run a credit check (not worried about this) and need a $500 deposit (refundable if I am unhappy with the car when it comes in). I feel a bit uneasy about this, any comments?
On a side note, the salesman I am dealing with, though very nice knows nothing about Z's, makes me feel even more uncomfortable... |
Sometimes its best to go with your gut and might be worth taking a ride to some dealers off the island. Find out how the Z will be brought to the dealer, driven or on a roll back. Check the Nissan website and search for the dealer inventories. I can't blame you for being uneasy about buying a car from a guy who doesn't know anything about them or about having it trucked in from some place in PA.

When I was shopping for a Z, I had left a deposit (more than $500) at a dealer in the city so that they could bring one in from Jersey. Two weeks later, with no car, no word and no money, I just went to a Jersey dealer myself and picked up the car for less than MSRP; the first dealer couldn't negotiate on the pricing because they would be bringing it in from another dealer. Getting the refund took about another two weeks of dealing with the credit card company. If it doesn't feel right, then it probably isn't... |
Thanks guys I agree. Making a trip to Koeppel in the next couple of days and I hope that this will be a better experience.
Just some insight on the salesman I have been working with: He tries hard but told me upon our original conversation that there is no such thing as a Base + Sport Package option (!?!?!) and had to double check with a manager when I told him he is wrong. He later asked ME what the MSRP is on the base model, touring model, spt pkg. I am like dude, you work at Nissan! He and his manager also claimed they will get me the best possible interest rate, turns out to be 5%... Like I said, hes been nice, helpful, gets back to me quickly, but I dont want to buy my first new car that knows nothing about it. Love this site though, my dad listened in on my last conversation with the salesman, and afterwards he laughs and says "**** Pat, you are tough!" |

yeah, check to see how the Z will be delivered. Mine was trucked in from upstate NY. at first it was going to be driven from DC, but i almost refused the miles on the car. and i eventually got the shipping cost ate by the dealer. I didnt mind waiting for the car, i had waited 3 months, another 3-5 days for shipping was nothing.
|
Just to put it to rest, I pulled the trigger on a good deal from a dealer in PA, RothRock and the salesman was Tom Russell. I was extremely pleased with the entire transaction. Thank you all for your help, Mr Clem, I appreciate your professionality but Ive got my Z!
