Holy markup, Batman!

I haven't seen anyone talk about the prices of the Z's at dealerships yet, but here's what I've seen in the past 10 day. A YouTuber, DannyZ, went to see the Proto in his State. $124,500. I saw one today at my local dealership and they want $85,300 for the Proto. I told them I'm not willing to pay 30k markup and then he began to ask what car I have and of course he said they would love to have my car. DUH! You're a dealership. He was trying to get me to sit in it and see how it feels..I instantly said no as I wasn't gonna get suckered in. He said he can talk to the big boss and maybe get 10k knocked off. I left with his business card and left my info for him for when the Performance model comes out or if he's willing to come way down on the price for the Proto. Long story short...I'm not rich by any means so me paying 5k over sticker is as high as I'm willing to go. I can't believe the markups are this astronomical. I'm assuming it's because they are just now starting to trickle out but I could be wrong. The guy I spoke with also said he's not expecting the sport or performance model til atleast December.

They probably don't want to sell it so they have one in the showroom.

I saw one for $135,000, but they include free car washes for life. LOL!

Asked point blank if they would sell it for $135,000, they said “maybe”.

Bottom line is it gets people into the Stealership.

:roflpuke2: LOL, I mean there are so many better cars you can get at the $100k price point that this is a complete joke. ZR1, GTR, Porsche, just to name a few heavy weights.

$100k Z....:gtfo2:

that's the reason why most people don't like stealerships. they are just vampire. Wait a year or so and they will be discounted. Same thing happened to the 370z when it first came out.

Trust me, that’s the first thing that came to mind…I was about to say F that and grab a used GTR for that price. On top of that they only wanted to give me $30k for my Z with 6200 miles and they wanted to keep my FI exhaust, HFC, and CAI. No way, they were a joke!

Currently, and much like real estate, you as a seller of a home/car should make more money selling/trading right now than later due to supply issues (of course, depending on how much you owe). In a "normal" market (ie pre-COVID), you'd probably get less than $30K with the same variables of your car. Also, generally speaking, any aftermarket/non-OEM parts will decrease the value of any car, so if you were to sell or trade in your vehicle, it's best to switch everything back to stock.

While I would never pay anywhere near $100K for a Z, keep in mind that the value of anything (home, car, etc.) is worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay. For example, there are people out there paying upwards to $60K for a Civic Type R. At the end of the day, it's a CIVIC, but there is a market for it and probably people also willing to pay more.

to be fair tho. I think a fk8 type R might be worth, not 60k, but more than it's MSRP. The new Z is worth 40 at best.

Exactly and as mentioned, the value of anything is worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay.
