Im not at all excited about this car. There is nothing revolutionary about it. So for forty large itll get its arse handed to it by a Mustang GT and no DCT option. Meh.

I like it for what it is tbh. The big 3, which are faster, are just far too common in my opinion. Absolutely nothing wrong with owning a Mustang but when you see 1 every 5 feet it takes out the wow factor. I can assure you most people can't tell the difference between a Super snake and your basic v6 lol. I'm glad that there will be other offerings in the sports car world and I think it'll hold it's own. Time will tell.

Well, I for one, am excited to see the production model, especially the Nismo version. I'm anxious to see if the Nismo has a unique front bumper/nose. A further play on the G-Nose (extend the nose maybe 3-4 inches) works for me.
Sure, a Mustang GT may be faster, but I doubt seriously it will handle as well, and there will be no comparison in build quality. A friend recently purchased a GT500 and it's a $30K car with a $60K engine. Interior is rental car crap quality. Hopefully, 400+hp will equate to 4.0 second 0-60 times with the Nismo being slightly quicker. That's plenty quick for the street and an insane value for sub-$50K. |
I think the new Z will be on pair with the GT for the fact that the new Z is way lighter than the gt. The starting price for the base model will be $34k with a markup price of $42k-$50k
|
If the new Z can stay at high to mid 12s in the 1/4 I will have zero complaints. I just know that it will be an immediate headturner when people see them in the wild.

Doesn't matter to me if a closely priced Mustang or Camaro or German car can out-accelerate a new Z. All of them need to watch out for a Tesla, which can out-accelerate anything.
The main attraction for a Z is being a reliable 2 seat Japanese sporty car. Same for those who buy Miatas, Mini Coopers, etc. There's always going to be a car "better" or "faster" than the car you like, but you like what you like nonetheless. |

So nice they finally went turbo from the factory. It will be really easy to make 450whp with a tune, down pipes, and exhaust, I am excited to find out the sound that it will produce.
|
I'm curious about what the final interior would be.
Very well possible this is it — blatant re-use of Z34 parts and elements to hit a competitive price point, and nothing to be mad at — but at the same time it's just strange to me that the body brace and to the hatch almost look like the same space altogether. |
I believe the nismo version will just be a similarity between the Base Q50 and the red sport.
In all reality Nissan has always done this, in the red sport they introduced turbo speed sensor and other small things. Come to realize the base model had about the same potential. It will follow the same process the A90 Supra did, it grew on people and folks were not timid about tuning and upgraded turbos. We've seen Q50s hitting a respective 5-700whps on turbos and tuning so it should not so different. I do see it will suffer from chassis differences and bay space. In summary: Turbos, Tuning, 55 oil coolers and another color and it will be the perfect vehicle. |
Will the Nismo be available same time as the other models?
|
Twin turbo and a standard gearbox will certainly draw attention to old owners and new enthusiasts alike. I am extremely excited about this offering and in a world where most cars are boring or too common this is a fresh take on an old classic.

I have a general question:
VR30 cooling vs VQ37 Does the VR30 have the same high oil temp issues? |
