The Q60 starts in the low 40's.

Are you thinking the new Z will be priced the same as a Q60?

The new Z base model will definitely start under $40k. Sport/Premium will probably be around $45k.

does anybody remember the project clubsport 23, sema 2018, they stuff a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 found in the Infiniti Q50 400 Red Sport in it..
might this had been the start of the next Z, like can this be done, and then with the Z pronto showing a lot of 370z in

Just wondering

It's the Q60 with 300hp that starts in the low 40's.

I talked to my informant from Nissan this past weekend at the track. I asked him if had any information on the automatic transmission for the new Z and he smiled and said yes but I can't tell you anything about it and then he paused and said what I can tell you is that it will not be anything that is on their vehicles at this time. He suspects that because it is something new there will be issues to sort through. Nothing new about that.

He stated that he and others are pushing and politicking Nissan to also offer the Nismo with a manual transmission as well. That is all I have for now. If I am at the next tack day I will pump him for more information.

After reading your comment it reminded me that he did say it would have more gears than the current 7 speed so it may be a variant of the nine speed.

Right. The new 300Z will likely be offered with very similar VR30 tunes as the Q60. This Japanese source confirmed the pricing of the upcoming VR-powered JDM Fairlady: [OFFICIAL] Discussion for the next new Nissan 400Z Z35?

■ New Fairlady Z Estimated price
● Base grade (304ps) /4.5 million yen ~$42k USD
● Version S (304ps) / 5 million yen ~$47k USD
● Version T (304ps) / 5 million yen ~$47k USD
● Version ST (405ps) / 6 million yen ~57k USD
● NISMO (405) ~ 450ps) / 7 million yen. ~66k USD

EDIT, I figured out the Japanese website: https://www3.nissan.co.jp/vehicles/n...30rst000000020

Looks like the VR Z will be only slightly more than the VQ Z.
Current VQ Z pricing:
S is 4.85 million yen
ST is 5.3 million yen
Nismo is 6.52 million yen

So, approximately 6-8% more than the VQ car.

It appears that the rumored JDM VR30 pricing is approx 6-8% higher than equivalent JDM Z34 pricing, as it seems the JDM trim levels are fairly comparable between Z34 and Z35. Also note that the JDM rumor also agrees with the opinion of many of us that there will likely be 3 versions of the VR30: 300HP-ish, 400HP-ish, something-more-ish for a NISMO.

The 300HP VR30 Q60 starts at $42.7K

That would mean the new 300Z that has the same 300HP VR30 could very likely be under $36K base. The Q60 has nearly 700 pounds of more "stuff" than a Z car.

If I were on a budget, a 300HP VR30 300Z would be a great starting point. May seem like less power than a VQ37, but it has more overall power, and the tuning options are strong with this version of the VR30.

This is how the new Z upsets the Supra:

Base Z has 300HP TT V6 at $36K vs Base 4cyl Supra at $43K (even if you say $40K for base Z, still looks better!)
Uplevel Z's have 400HP TT V6 at least $6-7K cheaper than Supra 3.0TT
At least for ONE model year (I expect BMW to add 6MT after Z is released) the Z will have the advantage of offering a 6MT
The new Z is actually a JDM product. Not a rebadged, re-skinned BMW. For those that care (some of us do, not all I know)

Not dissing the BMW Supra, BMWs are phenomenal and always punch way above their ratings. Heck, I highly doubt the new Z would be faster than a Supra 3.0 (the 2.0 for sure Z is faster). But the Z will be consistently cheaper than the Supra and will be VERY close in performance. Extra points for being JDM to many of us.

Unfortunately, all of these 2 seat sporty cars are playing in a nearly dead space, so not sure anyone is a real "winner" after all. Except maybe those of us who enjoy these kinds of cars

Well we shall c a in a drag race how they fare. But it will have to be auto vs auto.
15hp isnt much a difference. Its more for marketing. Potentially

I was assuming that the Q60 would be getting the 9AT, but at least for 2021, Nissan/Infiniti has retained the 7AT for the 2021MY Q60. Ugh. However, reviews of the 2021 Q50/Q60 have been praising the 7AT....when those same reviews from 2016 said the 7AT wasn't very good. Maybe Nissan/Infiniti fixed the 7AT programming? Finally? Mechanically nothing wrong with the 7AT, it's the shift logic that has always been terrible.

Reviews of those same 2021 Infinitis also mention that the EPS is MUCH better than before.
