Heater problem?
The last couple of weeks I've noticed that my car gets unbearably hot with the heat on. Due to the weather I've been keeping the defroster on, but even in auto mode it gets really hot. I've tried turning down the middle dial for temp to 60 but still too hot. It will take a while to get too hot, so on most short drives it isn't noticeable. However, if I drive for more than 20-30 minutes it will become a problem. I've had to open the windows or even turn off the heat completely at times in below freezing temps outside to cool off.
Any ideas? My warranty is up in April, so I'll probably bring it to the dealer before then to get it checked out. BTW, I have a base/sport (not touring). |
The air is hot even when the dial is set to cold?
Is the A/C on? And yes, dealershit problem for sure |
yea A/C is on and dial set to cold. i'll make an appointment. :tiphat:

Do you have Stillen G3's?
|
no all stock
|
stereo stock too? meaning did you unplug the a/c module when doing the install at all?
|

drove around today for a while and did some testing. when i put the temp dial to 60 it actually stops blowing hot air (not sure if just heat is off and cold outside air is blowing or actual a/c). however, beyond 4 clicks above 60 it starts blowing hot air and gets uncomfortably hot.
then i start to notice a slight burning smell. :eekdance: definitely not the clutch burning (i learned that smell all too well in my first manual car :ughdance:). |
sounds like your a/c control module's resistor is shot. can you hear the compressor turning on and off in defrost mode?
if so, it might be as simple as just replacing the control module. |
i'll listen for it next time im in the car thanks

took it to the dealer today. turns out it is a temp sensor just under the steering wheel in the dash that was not connected.
i took it to the same dealership a few weeks ago to get the steering lock replaced, and looks like they failed to reconnect the sensor when putting the dash back together. so all fixed now at no charge. |
Awesome and sad at the same time. Good thing you got it fixed though!
