first Blackstone Labs results question

Should I be worried about the high metal contents of my labs results? I purchased my Z from a forum member a couple months ago, they used nissan ester oil, I switched to Redline 5w30 at this oil change. Also the car is supercharged, not sure if that would cause an increase in metals in the oil though?? Thanks everyone in advance!!

Search for the "oil nerds" thread for some useful commentary on interpreting UOA's.

That said, at 11K, the engine might still not be fully broken-in. I believe you tend to see greater drop off on wear metals around 15K, at least on this motor.

Oil analysis

At 8030 miles I performed an oil analysis on my 2013 purchased new. This was the second oil change using Nissan ester and this oil had 5350 miles on it. No mods. Aluminum and Boron were much lower than yours at 8 and 13 respectively. Copper, molybdenum and silicon were higher at 114, 470 and 84. Everything else about the same. I am not qualified to opine about the significance of those differences. The car was broken in per the manual and not tracked or run at higher rpms often or for long. The analysts comments were favorable. I guess perhaps because he knew it was only the second oil change and because the aluminum was lower. I haven't given serious consideration to changing oil and will likely still with the 5000 mile interval.

Read this, a lot of what you quoted has no bearing like moly...

Looks like a problem. Different motor I know but a turbo or SC shouldn't kill it faster. Look at a turbo'd WRX which are known to live 100k plus.

I purchased my 2010AE used with 25K mi and have two Blackstone reports after 27,100 and 30,189. The last one was done after switching to Redline 5W-30 as well. My iron and copper were in low teens both times but moly went from 4 to 180. PM me and I'll send you the report if you want it.

UOA is about trends. Rarely can you get accurate insight from one sample.

Pull a sample at 2K. Change at 3750 or 5k. Repeat.

Iron is high. Lets see about your trend. I got out z used with 2500 miles. Likely that was ff ester. I did not sample until about 15k with iron in the 15 range on penn ultra oil.

Molys a micro lube, its in the oil to protect the motor. Means nothing about your motor.
