I got this fixed this past Tuesday and it was working fine when I left the dealership. Now it's messed up again

I used the penny trick before I got my new springs in Jan and it worked great. The new springs worked perfectly until we got a cold snap for a few days and the issue resurfaced. The dealer told me they gave me the new part number so I am wondering if it is not the springs but maybe the latch. I can't believe Nissan has not commented on this or identified a long term solution. It is warming here in CA so I will have to wait until winter but if it continues then, I will use the penny...

When I went into the dealer last, and mentioned this issue, I was told it might be the latch, and not just the springs. I haven't taken it in because I don't want them messing-up the interior pieces.

I originally did the penny trick which was flawless. Then out of principle I had them replace the springs under the TSB. A few times this winter, it still got hung up when I tried to open it. I may need to do the penny trick despite the longer springs.

I had this TSB performed roughly a month ago and it has helped the hatch to pop at least half of the time the way it should. Other times esp if its cooler outside it will still hang up on the latch.

What is this penny trick? I'm having the dealership look at it again on Thursday.

The TSB is posted here for North America as NTB10-014 - my dealer said there wasn't one, but when I brought it in on my iPad, they were able to do it. It says use part # 84415-1EA1E to replace the existing springs.

The penny trick is to remove the rubber boots over the springs on the hatch and put a penny or two in the bottom, then return it. This gives a little more lift, but more than three penny's can dent the hatch as the spring presses up on the metal when closed.

I'll be sure to try that out if the dealership can't fix it.

Sadly the new springs stopped working on my hatch again. It appeared to start when I re-attached the cargo cover. I did have something a little tall in the back that may have caused the cover to pull a little harder, but it happened again with nothing tall just the cargo cover attached.

I think I'll try a penny.

Gonna try the penny trick today. Went to the dealership twice to get it fixed, but still no luck.

It works! I could only get the rubber boot off one of the hatch springs to put the penny in, but that was enough to get it working.
