Replace drive belts at 30k miles?
According to the maintenance booklet, at 30k miles, "replace drive belts" is listed under optional premium upgrade, not in the "must-do" section. My car is due for an oil service. I currently have 35k miles on it. I plan to change the transmission and differential oil anyway which I didn't do at 30k. Any suggestion for the drive belts? Do most you replace at 30k or 60k? Thanks.

Just had my 30ka little while ago and DID replace the drive belt. Only because I follow the premium serviceto the letter. Not needed but im desperately wanting no problems so hoping its worth it and I stay trouble free evenwith the mods.

I've always considered drive belts to be replace-as-needed items. A visual inspection will usually be enough for a go/no determination. You can find pics of good and bad belts on the Web.
But I seldom get very far from home and a broken belt is not a big deal. If you do a lot of traveling, you may want to be more proactive and replace when Nissan suggests. |

I have run EVERY single car my family has owned to 100k+ without issues. I did on the 370 only because I installed a UD pulley Now, if I was in TX still, I'd be more inclined to check the belt regularly |

The belt was 21 and charged 74 for the install. So 100 buck. If cash is tight I could see skipping it unless it looks like it needs replacing.

Total waste of money unless every one of those 30k miles were city.

The maker and specs of the belt can tell you alot about the durability. That being said I use a 4 yr sched for drive, non timing belt replacement. I will replace the accessory drive belt and battery next spring. My car is a 2010 and that puts it right near 4 years for both.

The belt is roughly $22 and takes no more than 5 minutes to replace. Why is this an issue on a $3Xk car?

Why u asking me I had the dealer replace mine for whatever it cost. Dont even remember

Serpentine belts last quite a bit. As other stated, just check for cracks.

Did mine @65,000 12/15'... no crack's & 4yrs. old from build date.
I drew a diagram on bottom side of radiator (because of the routing) and replaced it. Not bad from bottom side & put the old one in the sleeve for a spare. #1 thing that i did notice & it was the same on all of them,,,the idler pulley's seemed to have a bit more clearance than i'm use to seeing. It could be designed that way, because of the high rpm's of engine...but bearings were all smooth-they just seemed to have extra play in them. 82,000+ and running great. |
Destroyed my serpentine belt at 57k. Shredded it at the race track and replaced the belt. Fast forward 14k miles later, I sold that car bought a 6spd manual with 42k miles, put two track days on it and it's now at around 52k miles. Changed the belt last weekend just in case and the job wasn't too hard.

I usually go with OEM belts and hoses...there are probably some crap ones out there from "overseas"
|
97K miles here and the belt looks fine
|
Not only mileage, but I think it is also based on years every 2 to 3 years regardless of the miles driving. I have a 2013 Nismo, I purchased 9 months ago with only 13k miles on it...I changed the belt stick with OEM ...easy as hell honestly.
