Service Soon Indicator

I raced a Mustang the other night, and afterward, the Service light came on. The manual says it's due to a loose gas cap or an "emissions issue." The gas cap isn't loose, and it's been on for about 5 days now. Why? How can I fix the issue or turn off the light?

Another question too... often when I am shifting, the Brake light comes on. I read the manual on this as well but found it less than helpful. Is this a bad thing?

Buy/rent/borrow an OBD scan tool. It will tell you what error code has been thrown and allow you to reset it.

Possibly low level in the brake fluid reservoir.

By the way, you can borrow the OBDII scanner at most auto parts stores

Buy this one off of amazon. I bought it and it works like a charm. Even erased my code with no problem.

"Autel-MaxiScan-MS300"

Thanks all. Just purchased it. Thankfully there's a shipping service that takes stuff from America and ships it abroad without it being TOO costly. There are no auto parts stores here in UAE (just a section in a store like Walmart) and service centers aren't too helpful. So purchased and on it's way.

Brake fluid was just checked. It's fine. Any other ideas? It comes on when I'm accelerating and shifting quickly... not when I'm braking.

Could be a faulty switch leading to the handbrake. You might be jostling it when shifting hard.
