Tire and Wheel warranty worth it?

I tried a search but only found 1 thread with some information. I bought the tire warranty for $800 for 5 years - is this worth it? The dealership said that the Yokohama tires are 500-800 dollars, but when i looked it up it was around 180-300 max. I still haven't cancelled it, but don't know if i should keep it or not?

That price sounds high...does it cover a curbed wheel?

Where did they get the warranty through? I paid 600 for mine. With these low profile wheels and how bad the roads are in ny its worth it.

I already had one tire replaced due to a bulge. Keep in mind they will only replace it if its leaking. Luckily i have a freind at local tire shop that hooked me up. If you dont just make sure to run over a nail to make sure its leaking air or they wont replace it.

It does not cover curb rash, just undrivable rim due to road hazard.

the guy at the dealership said that even if i scratch the rims, they will replace it. however i read that they won't replace it unless it is in un driveable condition. Still not sure whether to keep it or not.

and it cost me $800 because it's the premium plan that covers tires and rims even if i damage (at least that's what he said) for 5 years

Keep your money. You can always find a set of wheels here (Classified) for like 1000 to 1500 should anything goes wrong.

I don't know how long they cover the tires but be aware they will last about 12k miles (~ year for me) anyway.

So they cover tires AND wheels for 5 years even if you replace the OEM tires with something else? If so, the deal is not bad.

Let's say you purchase a tire for $250 at Discount Tire. Their replacement certificate cost around $40 for each, $160 for a set. You'll probably go through 3 or 4 set of tires in 5 years/75K miles. Total cost will be around $600, that is if you want coverage.

I personally wouldn't buy it at all. If you break 1 tire, you'll just break even. What are the chances?

I have easycare warranty and yes they replace non oem tires. I got an impact bulge in my hankook v12. Total cost of replacement and install was over 300 they covered everything. (they MIGHT make you pay tax, but I didnt have to this time)

always a judgment call, I had 2 nails in the same tire in a month and did not have the tire warranty. Nissan dealer patched the 1st one for 15, would not touch the 2nd one. Sent me to Discount Tire, they patched the 2nd and re-patched the first for free.
