Wet Driver-side Seat Belt
I have a 2010 Coupe and seeing as this is the first time in awhile it has rained in California, I noticed that my driver-side seat belt is wet when I clip it in. It appears that water is somehow making it's way inside the panel. I checked the seals around the door and from the trunk and everything appears fine.
Anyone else see this issue? Thanks. |
I live in the desert so I don't get a lot of rain. But it's still under warranty so take it in at least it's documented.

But it fixed on its own somehow |
Just as an update; they found out what the issue was. Apparently when I had my tint installed, the installers removed some insulation somewhere on the driver-side and did not re-install it, thus the leak.
It's been fixed and luckily the passenger-side does not have the same problem but I'm out $120. :owned: Oh well, just glad I can get back in my car again.:driving: |

So of a B!TCH! I've been noticing that my car had a mildew smell. I felt all around and found moister under the mat on the driver's side. I bet when I had the audio done they did some stupid sh!t like that.

WELL WELL look what I found. When they installed the amp for the stereo they fed the power through the firewall just below the master cylinder passing it through a rubber grommet that they pried away from the firewall :shakes head:. A little silicone and should be problem solved.

Thank the lord I found this - it is driving me mental - 4 month old £37k car and after its rained my driver side seat belt is SOAKED - only the bit that's in the seat belt pillar !!!
So the new car smell has been replaced by a mildew rotten smell and the car constantly steams up from the condensation !! ? Starting to miss the BMW quality build! |

Both of my seat belts get wet after it rains. I read somewhere that the small back window is prone to leaking. I have an appointment at the dealer next week. Also the leather on my Recaro bucket seats is peeling away on the upper portion of the seat. 11,300 miles.

i donno about ur leak but the side bolsters are prone to damage like that on a lot of seats. u have to get in/out of da car without putting ur weight on dat area.. otherwise u end up with those cracks.

Wet Seatbelt Cause Discovered
1 Attachment(s)
After 3 trips to the dealer, My Nissan dealer could not figure this out. I discovered the issue and and took it back for a 4th time. The panel that runs above the window, from the windshield to the back window, has clips holding it in place. Those clips have a rubber seal where they meet the chassis. That rubber either deteriorates or distorts to allow water underneath. That is the cause of the wet set belts. I had my Nissan dealer replace both panels AND the clips, AND reinforce the rubber barrier, and so far, no wet set belt. Picture attached.
