DIY Oil Change Warranty Question

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and glad to be here.

The question I have is about DIY oil changes and the car warranty. I tried looking it up in the search but couldnt find much on my question.

I plan to do all oil changes outside of the dealership for convenience, lower cost, and better customer service. I have noticed a good number of members DIY the oil changes or have their mechanic do the oil changes.

The questions I have are:

1) If I do my own oil changes at home will it void warranty?

2) Do I need to keep all receipts on the oil/filter purchased fpr DIY?

3) Will going to a mechanic shop and getting the oil change be better for keeping the car warranty valid?

I'm leaning towards buying my own Redline Oil/Filter and bringing them to a local mechanic. They will do it for $15 labor which is 1/2 the price of the dealership.

I just want to make sure which is the best way to keep the warranty and extended warranty valid without having to go to the dealership for everything.

Thanks!

To be safe I would keep all your oil and filter purchase receipts. It would suck to have something go wrong with your car inside the warranty and Nissan asked for oil change records before they honor your warranty. Isn't it better to be safe then sorry?

Pretty much this. I'd keep the receipts, though.

From reading the threads it looks like you need about 5 1/4 qt of oil for an oil change. Does this amount change any for the 2012 model with the standard oil cooler?

No because there is no external oil cooler. Isntead, coolant is fed to the oil filter housing to "cool" oil as it travels through.
