Just got "Service Engine Soon" light..

I'm pretty sure it has to do w/ the fuel cap.

The last 2 times I filled up I made sure it clicked tight but the light hasn't gone away.

So I'm going to take it to a dealership. I was wondering anybody had this issue in Orange County and which Nissan dealership helped you out or is recommended.

I might as well also go in for my Rear Hatch TSB spring fix and knock out 2 birds with 1 stone.

Any advice would be helpful thanks!

Also I just hit slightly over 13k miles. 2009 model.

Why not go to Autozone where they will hook up their code reader and tell you if its something minor? The dealership may charge you 70 just to read the codes. Take the weight out yourself and save some $$$ for Walker: Texas Ranger DVDs.

You don't need to go to the dealer for a CEL. Places like auto zone will scan and clear it for free or you could buy your own OBD scanner for less than $100. Everyone should have one of these anyways. If your dealer is anything like my dealer, they will charge you a diagnostic fee. This is something anyone can do. It's so easy a caveman can do it :p

Autozone doesn't do free readings anymore at least here in CA they don't. I bought a $22 code reader from amazon. Everyone should have one of these.

nice. Thanks for the link. I just ordered one. I'm gonna still head over to the dealership for now and get my hatch springs replaced and ask about the light. If they charge me, I'll wait till I get the readings from the reader I bought.

I had an engine light on after the track, after about 1 month it went away. If not Autozone still pulls codes for free still.

Update: So I went to the Buena Park Dealership and they told me my car was still covered under warranty due to my low mileage.

I leave my car for them to inspect since they told me it might take longer since I have aftermarket parts installed (Stillen gen3 CAI, Stillen exhaust)

The next day they tell me that my fuel tank smells like ethanol. So for now they just reset the light and told me to come back if it comes on again.

In the meantime they said they're ordering parts for my hatch springs.

Hopefully the light was just a fluke =\

I was just at an autozone, I cuold swear they had a sign that they will pull the odb2 codes for you but probably not rent you the tool for free like they used too...... I will snap a pick of it next time I'm there
