No tsb for the z. They issued one for the same issue on the gtr though :ugh2:

Pissing off $90K car owners--bad for business.

Pissing off $30K car owners--meh.

I'd think only if you abuse the car will it need major repairs in the next couple of years.

It seems Nissan designed and built this car with durability in mind (read 370z.com: engine, drivetrain, suspension).

Isn't the brand known for good reliability?

alcheng 01-15-2012 10:29 PM

Spread out the time it doesn't cost that much of money, I bought it for mine, just a peace of mind.

$0.02

all good advice thanks. dealer called back today and lowered the deal so for
my peace of mind i'm going for it. 59.00 x 18 = 1062

most repairs on this car will run at least 500 easy..
heck they charge over a 100 just to plug into the computer.

In short... not really. Not that it's known for unreliability, but it's never been ranked very high in most of the dependability studies. Nothing like Lexus/Honda/Toyota

That will probably pay for itself once your steering lock fails (as long as it happens under warranty).

So it's only logical to buy the extended warranty if I'm planning to keep this car for life? Only death til us part.

wanted to add it is a personal choice. for me it was just the peace of mind..
these cars can be expensive to repair. when dealer threw in free oil changes
every 3750 miles, plus free towing and it also includes rentals if needed it was done... still keeping fingers crossed about steering wheel locking up...
i hear from the guys in the know on this forum it's not if but when:eek:

I bought the warranty and do not lose a minute of sleep. It is just a good feeling to me.

It really depends on your situtation. I like having the peace of mind, especially since oem parts cost an arm and leg on this car. It hasn't been prone to have a ton of major issues, but the less common ones can be very expensive. I can think of the oil consumption on a few cars than needed the engine short block replaced & the aformentioned steering lock issue. If you financed the car for 5 years, I say definately get the extended.
