Compression Test PSI

I am going to get my first oil change, I am at about 5300 mi. and I am going to get a compression test also for a baseline and to make sure the cylinders are perfect before I start modding for peace of mind. I bought it with 19 miles on it and who knows if some idiot mis-shifted while test driving so just want to be sure. Does anyone know what the numbers should be? I can't find anywhere, just that they shouldn't vary much. Anyone know the Psi. they should be at?

I guess it cant hurt, but I dont think its needed. If one or more of the cylinder was loosing compression you would know about it.

Op, I dont know offhand, but you are looking for consistency rather than hard numbers.

How's that? We've seen cars in all the time that put out bad comp/ld numbers and you'd never know it (until you run 15+psi). One of the f20 builds we did was laying down beast numbers despite awful comp numbers... It is very often not obvious until you add power.

Yeah I was gonna have the oil change and compression test done at the dealership. One guy I talked to was good and gave me a price of $142.50 for the comp. test and he was supposed to call me back when he could schedule with a master technician to do it. He never did so I called back a few days later and another tech was giving me the run around telling me there was no need to get it done unless there was something wrong and that I would definitely know. I told him possibly, and he said "probably". Didn't care for that guys attitude and he couldn''t even give me a price and pretty much just didn't want to schedule me to have it done. I spend that much money on a car and want a test done for peace of mind and am willing to pay for it and he wasn't cooperative. So I am having it done by a local mechanic. I am having CAI and short throw shifter installed at same time as long as the compression is good.
