P2A00 woes. O2 sensor... again
At ~19k miles my car threw this code, reset it multiple times, and had the O2 sensor, as specified in in service manual, replaced under warranty. No more SES light for almost 3k miles.
After some rough driving it came again and I took it to a different dealership. They again replaced an O2 sensor under warranty, noting that the wire had "been stripped"/abraded some (that could have been me) and that it looked jarred (sounded to me like a poor install the last time?). Supervisor said that should fix it but "if it comes up again we'll have to look at the fuel system" [implied sender]. Another thousand plus miles no SES light. There was a P0400 code (I think that's what it was), same as others with aftermarket exhausts or test pipes except that mine is entirely stock nismo. Reset it, saw it again after a hundred miles, reset it, and have not seen it for at least another 1000 miles. Now the P2A00 is back again and haunting me after a reset. Any thoughts before it goes in tomorrow? |
No thoughts? Stuck in Army training for another two weeks before I can get the dealership's take.

How does your car behave with the failed O2? How does it affect acceleration? Engine roughness due to weird fuel trimming? Just wondering... thanks!

I believe this sensor does not affect the ECU, just a warning/indicator/emissions. I have not noticed any change in performance through this.

Did you look up the code to see what other problems might be? It's probably more than just the O2 sensor, but something cause it to get fouled up.
A 350Z owner mentioned replacing a MAF and O2 sensor. Quote:

Another O2 sensor in and the same SES light has been around. It definitely does not affect performance, I just want them to try and get it right before the first warranty expires. They ordered a new ECM which will be here Thursday.
If they can't fix it I'll just go uprev and delete the damn thing. |
So what happened?
My car currently has this. Its annoying erasing it every couple hundred miles. |
ECM didn't fix it, came back on 34 miles later. Might have them keep trying, since it's warranty work anyways or will just delete with uprev after I make the jump in classes next winter.
