It happen to me at 3500 rpms and at 2500 rpms I disconected the battery and it was fine at first. I just took it to the dealer and let them deal with it got to love buying a warranty 7 years or 120,000 miles!

Update on mine So they have to take the engine apart and fix the moving plate. It will take them a week and I get a rental. Also it will be cover by warranty.

The dealership said that it was in front of the engine and that it was a metal plate that was causing the problem of not passing the 2500rpms. I also asked them if it was going on limp mode and they said yes so I don't think it wasn't the gas cap issue or a leak. I don't know what it is either but once I have any updates or anything. All the papers and repair cost I will post it here.

Alright I'm back with an update on my z. So the total for the repair was $1,902.30 all covered by warranty. This is what the technician said in his notes "veryfied service engine soon light
Checked for codes found code p0011 intake timing control b1. Ran confirmation test, failed. Checked oil pressure - low because low on oil. Called the tech line was told to replace both intakes sprockets. R&r front timing cover and found b1 intake symol plate slipped replaced both gears- ok." They also gave me a rental. The z feels way better now. |
Sounds like your timing gear jumped a tooth, not sure how that happens.

Quagmire - did your motor refuse to rev past 3500/2500rpm in all conditions after it first happened? Or did the problem only appear when the engine was warmed up?
