Bending or warping of the side skirts?
Hey,
does anyone has a problem with their side skirts bending on your car? I noticed recently that it seems to bend out and its not been hit or anything. its just bending out. |
I managed to curb one of mine a bit, which caused it to get pushed out ever so slightly. You should be able to unscrew it inside the wheel weel, push it in, then tighten down.
|
the thing is that i didnt even hit anything and its pushing out. car is currently at the dealership should get an answer from them tomorrow. pictures on the way.
|
interesting, hope they can get it all straightened out for you ASAP!
|
quite a horrible answer the dealership told me. its not something that they can cover under warantee. "its normal for the car's side skirts to flare out a bit with driving" supposedly they compared it to other cars on the lot. this is just stupid... taking some pictures tomorrow while the suns is out.

umm weird maybe when you post your pics it will better show what you are trying to say, cause this sounds weird to me at least....

If the side skirts flared out after being at the dealer I would suspect something like what happened to me occurred. Usually dealers or other mechanics who know little to nothing about the Z put the lift on the frame not on the notched area and this flares out the side skirts. On my first ever oil change my mechanic put it on the lift and I saw immediately the side skirts bulge, I said uhhhh thats not right and by the time we had the car down they were malformed and flared out where the lift was set. If you had it at a Nissan dealer id assume they are incompetent to start, ask how they lifted the car, I bet they dont even know about the notches in the frame and could have likely flared out the side skirts. A little heat and a skilled hand can make it less noticeable but I still notice it on my car where anyone else wouldnt. Just my 2 cents, but this sounds like what happened to me.
