Windows wount auto up after door is opened.

The battery got unplugged to day so i could change out my interior lights to LEDs. When I hooked the battery back up the widows would not auto up after you open the door. Called dealer and they are closed until Friday and he said I would have to have the power window motor rest. Does anyone know how I can fix this so I dont have to wait?

Basically all you have to do is:
  • get inthe car
  • close the doors
  • roll each window all the way down
  • roll each window all the way up HOLDING the roll up switch up for about five seconds after the window is up.
and that should take care of it.

yeah i called one dealer and he said if have to wait till friday about it be $85 and take about an hour. Called another dealer and thats what he told me to do was hold up for 5 secs.

Thx

:iagree:
I panicked the first time I unhooked the battery because I knew it was going to rain that day LOL.
It might not won't work right away too. You have to let the motor run for a few minutes (I guess it's to let everything reset.). Just leaving the ignition in the "On" position didn't work for me.

Got me wondering too.

Replaced my battery today and got the same thing, each time I openned the door the window would go down a little further. It wouldn't go back up without usting the window button. Even the mechanical wouldn't work to roll up the window from outside. I followed the instructions shared and it worked, all fixed. Thanks all.

Had the same issue after disconnecting the battery. The five second thing worked perfectly. Thanks!

If you guys would have bought a "13" you don't have to reset the windows after the battery has been disconnected.

Removing power from the whole system is SOP when doing any electrical work on modern cars. Sometimes it's overkill, but still the recommended thing to do.
