Another Air Bag Light Thread

My airbag indicator light is flashing and I can't shut it off. It's flashing because I was an idiot when I swapped my gauges and started the car without the dash light plugged in. Ever since then it's been flashing in debug mode (showing the code with flashes). I have ignored it for a while because I know what the cause is.

So now I got my hands on a scanner that can read/clear SRS codes. When I pulled the codes I got b00d5 (Passenger Airbag OFF Indicator Lamp) which is exactly what I expected it to be. I used the scanner to clear the code. After clearing the code the airbag light is still flashing, but not in debug mode. It's the standard slow off/on. If I read the SRS codes again, there is nothing there anymore.

How do I get this light to shut off?

I've tried the reset procedure many many times and it doesn't work for me. I have a '17, and I haven't heard anyone who's got the procedure to work on a '17.

I know the scanner did something, because the flashing pattern is different and the code doesn't show up anymore

When I had my '17, the reset procedure didn't work on it either. I got so sick of it that I took the cluster apart and pulled the led :rofl2: The dealer should be able to reset it though

I was worried that someone would say this. The dealership wants $150 to hook the car up to the scantool.

Are you sure you didn't pinch off one of the wires to the airbag light when reinstalling the dash?

I reset the Airbag light on my '17 with a Zurich ZR13 OBD Code Reader from Harbor Freight … no problem.

I came in here to post an update to say that is exactly what I used to clear the code. Worked perfectly.

HOWEVER,
I paid closer attention to the flashing that is still happening, and it's the "error code" for no error

I was able to get my hands on a 2017 FSM SCS pdf from another forum member. It basically says that clearing a stored code may result in the "no error" code continuing to flash, and if so the just use Consult to clear the "no error" error code

I can confirm that there is no mention of the ignition reset procedure in the 2017 FSM. If it was in the previous year FSM then I think that we can safely say that the procedure was removed for 2017+

I am sure. I used a tool to clear the real error and it hasn't come back. The flashing that is still occurring is the error code for "no error"

does your airbag light still flash?

My airbag light started flashing 6 days ago. I tried the reset several times. I changed the flashing light to 1 long flash and 2 quick flashes. I was never able to get the light to shut off.

Went to the dealer this morning and showed the service manager. About two hours later, I was told that the light was fixed and my car was ready for pick up.

When I went to leave the dealer, the light was flashing very slowly.

I showed the service manager and the master tech looked at it. The dealership cant find a problem and the car is going back next week.

2020 370z NISMO with 19,000 miles. Nothing new installed that would affect the airbag light
