Replacing airbag control module

All,

I was recently involved with an accident. I’m looking to purchase a used airbag control module, bring it to Nissan, and have them program it. Only my drivers side airbag went off. Nissan recommends I buy a new one (obviously) but was wondering if anyone has ever bought a used one and swapped it in, or even tried re-flashing their factory one after the accident.

nobody has done this before? lol

Cars are often considered totaled if the air bags pop, so I'm not surprised that no one has any experience with replacing the module.

Plus, most people that can afford a 370Z aren't going to cheap out on something like airbag modules, brakes, etc.

I wouldn't consider this "cheaping out." I'd consider this smart shopping. If I were to go with a chinese no-name brand, then yes that would be cheaping out. I am asking the Z community if this has been done before, or if it can be done (hoping a nissan tech or mechanic would chime in). Why would I buy a brand new ACM if I don't need to?

I wasn't implying that you are a niggard. I was only pointing out that there aren't going to be many people that have put a used controller in a car. How about "look for the lowest price"?
