Drain n refill tranny quoted $265

That's a reasonable price. If they do it right and it includes the correct Nissan Matic-S fluid. Have they done a 370Z AT flush before?

If they don't do it right not only are they ripping you off but it could also possibly damage your transmission.

A drain & fill on level surface only takes 1 gallon :ugh2:
Unsure your mileage; but mine looked like coffee after 50k miles :icon14:
So I drained,filled,made a 5-mile lap & repeated 2-more times (12qts) & fluid was beautiful :tup:
Made a difference in shifts as well....like giving it a tune-up.

If it was mine; I’d ensure that they were gonna flush all fluid out & refill with new...price will vary pending shop-but that price seems a tad high for a single drain & fill (probably 50$ for 4qts Nissan fluid). Book says to replace the plugs & sealing washers...though I cleaned & reused mine multiple times.
Haven’t seen one in a while; but some places used to have a bladder machine that would put new fluid in,as old fluid was coming out...they would tap into the transmission cooler lines for this procedure.
But just a single drain & fill can be performed in about 15-30min.easily .
If you choose to just go this route, I’d have them catch you a sample & then you can send to Blackstone Laboratories for analysis...about another 25$ or so.
I drove mine really hard & never had any troubles with it; but this is definitely a good preventative maintenance task that most people just neglect...especially if you plan to keep your Z for a long time.
New trans is nearly 10k :eek: so this is cheap maintenance on the hydraulic system that gets a lot of heat.

The BG machines do this, just make sure they use the fluid of choice, BG shops try to push their own fluids. (I had a Nissan dealer do my change and don't believe they knew what they were doing.)

With BG, the wheels are raised off the ground, the transmission is run through the gears while hooked to the machine. The fluid is transferred by the pump in the transmission, not flushed with external pressure. This method takes about 16 quarts to replace the fluid.

BG shops just put an arbitrary price, based on what they feel they can get from you, so call several shops until you find one who isn't gouging and who will agree to use the fluid you want (you may need to supply it).

However, having had a total 7AT failure at 48k, covered by warranty, I will do my own fluid change, using the method you used. I will probably leave it on the the Quick lift, in gear for a while, let it cool to 100 degrees, drain and fill and repeat 3 times.

After I performed my first flush- I just did the 4qt drain & fill every 10k Miles,,,fluid stayed nice & clean + transmission seemed to shift better after each service :tup:

Seems low to me but you can easily drive up on them and check for yourself. You only need to fit yourself and a drain pan under it. You'll need some form of pump when refilling.
