2009 base won't start

Hey all,
Like the title says my 2009 Z won't start.
Last week I was leaving the house and got about 200 meters down the road and the car just shut off. No stalling no sputtering just like I had clicked it off.
I pull over try to start it, and the starter works fine. The engine cranks fires once and then dies.
MIL is on at this point.
I checked oil levels all good there.
Get it pushed back to the house and plugged into an OBD scanner to find P0340 code stored.
This prompted me to buy camshaft position sensors and crankshaft position sensor.
This didn't fix the problem car still showing same symptoms.
I read on here someone had gotten Zs to start with this code by removing one Cam sensor and starting it in limp mode. So to somewhat rule out complete mechanical failure I tried this.
Car starts right up in limp mode with either or cam sensor unplugged.
I drove it to the dealership in limp mode. During this time it seemed to drive perfectly fine.
The mechanic at the dealership claims the vehicle had a stored P0011 code and that the cam sprocket is retarded -17 degrees.
So I've bought all the necessary timing parts and I'm getting ready to tackle that but I'm not entirely convinced that's the issue. If this was a timing issue wouldn't the vehicle run terribly?
Any information would be most appreciated.
Thanks all
Jake

Quick update on this. (If anyone wants one haha)
The issue here was indeed the Timing Chain. or rather a tensioner on driver's side of engine that gave out. Causing the slip in timing.
There doesn't seem to be a decent DIY (that I could find) on this so I've documented everything we've done thus far and will finish the work this weekend.
Hopefully get the DIY written and submitted next week!
This job has been a right pain in the @$$ in terms of how time consuming this has been.
Plus I had trouble finding parts which further delayed me.

Congratulations on figuring it out. Looking forward to seeing the DIY.

How many miles on the car? Is it around 100k? Seems like an issue with GT-R as well.

I have similar issue with a 2013 370z 24000 miles on it. Died at an intersection. It threw a P0340 code. I changed both cam sensors and crank sensor Still did not start. Unplugged right side sensor and it starts in limp mode. Dealer checked it and reports that "cam sensor isn't getting correct electrical signal, has electrical problems." I take it home and pull ECM. Power wire (green) to sensor has 5.4V and no short circuits. Ground (pink) OHM's good and signal wire (orange) has good continuity from sensor to ECM no shorts and disconnected from ECM.
This Z is box stock with no mods, wife's car, she likes it because its cute.
Do I check for cam timing issues from this point?
