Replace Clutch?

Took the Z in to have the CSC replaced at 42k miles. Should I have them replace the clutch plates too while they are in there? I don't really have the extra $1000 sitting around, but should I do it anyway while they are in there?

If so, do I have them install an OEM clutch? Would they even install an aftermarket?

I did my CSC replacement at 51K miles and didn't bother to replace the clutch :twocents:

Sitting at 77K miles currently and still no signs of wear or slipping. I fully expect to get 100K+ out of the stock clutch.

If you think you can get at least 2 years out of the remaining clutch, then I would say don't bother. Especially if cost is a factor. But plan to save up starting now for the repair down the road; that way, if it fails before you expect, you're not scrambling for another $1K in labor and parts.

Replace Clutch?

The only catch is if the oem clutch got soaked in fluid when the csc failed. If they're installing another oem csc, you'll get another chance to swap the clutch when the slave fails again.

That is an excellent point. I should have clarified that I replaced my CSC before it ever failed. As Chuck mentions, some catastrophic CSC failures can get fluid on the clutch and ruin it .. this may or may not include the flywheel as well

The dealership said if when they open it up, the clutch is ruined from fluid, it will be replaced under warranty. So, I am praying that my clutch plates are soaked bigtime. lol

So you're getting a new oem csc? Start saving for a HD csc to have on hand when the new one dies. It's only a matter of time. Ask them if they'll install a HD csc if you bring it in instead of the pos stock one.

Did they cover your CSC under the powertrain warranty?
