Car will not start, Ignition light stays in "Lock", blinking key light

Hey guys,

Tonight my car, a 2010 370z Nismo, would not start. I have been getting the yellow key light on the left side of the dashboard for a couple weeks now, but thought nothing of it. Big mistake.

Anyways, when it wouldn't start I searched all through this forum to find the issue and thought it may be the steering lock issue. So, with that in mind, I tried the basic things like disconnecting the battery and pumping the brakes. Nothing worked.

I also read that pulling one of the fuses would solve the problem, but when looking through the threads about the issue, I couldn't find the fuse they were talking about, so I elected not to do that.

The weird thing is that the car will not move passed the "Lock" light on the ignition button, and the steering wheel is not locked in place. So, even if I wanted to remove the fuse, the car couldn't go into "ACCY" so it would not have helped.

I'm at a loss as to what is wrong. My dad pulled the car back 10 miles to my house with a strap using the tow hook, and I guess I'm going to have to tow it to my local Nissan dealership to see what the problem is.

Any ideas?

Pulling the fuse disables the steering lock and preventing it from seizing up on you, like it is now. You should be pulling the fuse Before it goes into locked down, not AFTER! :o

What you can do now locate the steering lock unit. Give it a few good whack with a rubber mallet to get it to release first, then pull the fuse to disable the system and keep it from happening again.

Here's a thread showing the location of the fuse.

Well, I didn't remove any fuses at all. I only disconnected the battery. The steering wheel was not locked from the start, so I don't know if it's the same issue?

Used the first link you sent and got the ignition to turn to acc. Removed the fuse and the car won't turn over...

Put on a trickle charger since the battery showed 10.5-11V

Hopefully that will allow it to start after it charges up

You need to unlock it first (with rubber mallet) while on ACC position. Once it is unlock then pull the fuse.
