Rear Hatch Won't close

This morning I opened the hatch, then tried closing it, and it won't latch anymore... seems like it closes all the way when you push down on it to close

Default Rear Hatch Won't close

This morning I opened the hatch, then tried closing it, and it won't latch anymore... seems like it closes all the way when you push down on it to close it but won't stay closed; the hatch light goes off, the front panel indicator does not report trunk open, but it won't lock and pops back up again to where it is at rest but it is not shut at which point the hatch light goes back on and front panel indicator reports trunk open...

Anyone got any idea before I drive to the stealership?

EDIT:

Basically, you'd have to press on it from outside to keep it shut...

Sounds like the latch mechanism has slipped down. Have you done any work in the rear panel area? I would check the latch position and see if there are witness marks from slippage.....

I've checked it, it looks like it is in a closed position. I think it is busted. Need a new one.

Got the problem fixed at the dealer. They replaced the rear hatch lock actuator.

More precisely 09550-CD00A actuator assy-back door opener.

Hope this helps someone.

This same thing happened to my Z. How much did you have to pay to get it fixed?

Default Rear Hatch Actuator Switch Price

My switch recently stopped working..about a $45 part. Once you remove the trim, looks like 2 bolts and connector to replace it.

mine 2010 did the same thing. i took apart the lock assembly to find the plastic teeth broke off and jammed the gears from locking.

I know this is an old thread, but it will probably help me.

Track night for the first time.

Opened it and now it won't stay closed.

Will look more into it tomorrow.

In the meantime, I hope the light goes/times out.

Else I'll have to figure out another way to turn it off so it doesn't kill the battery.

Was hoping to chill right about now.

Update, found this on another forum. Was the issue, and tried the dis-assemble/fix method, which worked for a bit, but it has re-occurred. Posting this in case it helps someone. Now, if the person above that posted he got it fixed for $45, I'd be happy to have one if it's new. Best I can get to on e-bay and other searches is $150-$200 after shipping.
