The light for the top being open won't go away...
 

My brother got a 2010 roadster the other day and he's noticing that when he closes the top, the light which indicates the top is open remains on. Anyone know what could be keeping the light on? The top seems to be closed.

I have a 2010 Roadster as well and have not yet had this problem. I don't know exactly what it is, however, a good guess would be a simple fuse. Try disconnecting the battery terminals for a minute then reconnecting. I hope you can get this resolved.

Or maybe an ECU reset..

Sounds like the computer is unhappy. Probably one of the switches or sensors isn't reporting "closed" like it should. Time to dig into the shop manual....

I didn't find any manuals for the 'vert so this is just a guess. It sounds like the switch(es) that detect full closure are not actuating or are broken. My guess is that the switch is part of or near the latch(es) at the windshield. It may just be a minor mechanical adjustment to the latch to get the top frame to hit the switch properly. If you find a service manual for the 'vert, please post a copy/link.

"Roof striker sensor is installed to roof front finisher LH and RH. It detects engaging state of roof lock assembly hook and front lock striker and transmits ON signal to soft top control unit."

Adjustment procedures should be in there somewhere.

I also saw mention of a status signal from the trunk but that is probably the switch that tells the system the top is properly stowed.

I'm going to dedicate this weekend to helping him diagnose this issue. Thanks guys. I'll report back with what the issue/fix is if we find it.

A friend has this same issue. it's in the shop as we speak.

Any chance he simply isn't holding the switch long enough?

I can't see that being the issue. In the case of my friend's top it was replaced and the shop doing the repair work did a crappy job. After much complaining it's going to the shop that did my top replacement. The shop that did my repair did an awesome job but told me there wasn't any reason to unhook any hydraulics or sensors while doing the replacement. Many shops feel they have to unhook all that crap before they realize they shouldn't and didn't need to.

One thing I've learned about this top. It's f'in complicated. I've assisted on a few s2000 top replacements as a DIY but no chance in hell I'd attempt this one. Good thing Jim's Trim shop in Columbus has 1000s of top replacements under their belt in 40 years.

Sorry for the late reply guys. I ended up taking it to the dealership and it was covered under warranty. To be honest, my brother took it in so I'm not sure about the details other than it was some how covered.
