Help, this part fell out of my roadster top, what is it?

Does anyone have any idea what this piece of plastic that fell out of my roadster top is? It's maybe 4 inches long by two inches wide and has four tiny holes. The part is black plastic and one side has a sticky glue on it. It fell out as I was putting the top up this afternoon.

Hopefully it's nothing major as I would prefer to hold off on taking the car to the dealership if I can, maybe I can even fix myself if I know where it goes.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Don't know. Looks like 4 screw holes. You might want to look for them screws.

I thought the same thing but there were no screws that fell out of the top when the piece came down.

Drivers or passenger side? And when you say you found it was it laying on the ground beside the car or inside the car like on you seat or in the tops storage area?

Looks like something that would help protect the corner of the top from the vet frame.

It fell out of the top as I was putting the convertible top up. It fell onto the passenger seat and then down in between the passenger door and seat

I know exactly what it is.....inbetween the enterior top mesh, and outside cloth are the bars...well this piece sits right above ur head and also above the passengers as well...its glud'ed in there attached by velcro i believe butttttt....it causes small fine holes as well above both people heads (think cigarette burns) I've had dealership replace whole top and its doing it again!!!! deff a defect! explain to dealer and let em know!

Brilliant, just double checked and that's exactly where it's from. The driver side one is starting to come loose as well. Did you get the "burn marks" after they came loose or while still attached?

i think from both......they replaced my whole top brand new and its starting AGAIN!!!!! ughhhh never gonna get another roadster again.

mine fell off too. I put it back before it started to cause problems. I have other problems with my top though but the dealership is going to replace my top when I give them the go ahead... which will be close to my warranty expiration next may.

Do any of you have photos of the "cigarette" burn you are referring to? I have not noticed any issues yet and i've had my car for 16 months now. I just want to know what to keep an eye out for.

I actually pulled mine out. They are held to the top by the double sided tape on one side. Yes they are a rub guard for the last joint on either side, but they actually were causing the top to get caught on the cylinder when it was closing. Texas heat weakened the glue.

Once I pulled mine out I removed any residual glue from the top. If you watch the top close, right as the last section comes down by your head, you can see the small hydraulic cylinder they cover. If you pull the material out a little you will see that there is nothing to rub against.

I've had no issues with nine since.

Guys, I just had the same issue on my top. Can somebody post a more specific explanation of where the pad was originally located? I've looked around and can't find the original location.

Pictures even better. Thanks!

Right above ur head on both sides. It's glued to the top between the fabrics to protect the wires or ribs. When that glue melt the whole thing falls out. Lower the top half way down and stop then u can see in between.

You should do it now, there is a good chance they will screw up the new top so you need to make sure it works fine before warranty expires.
