New TSB for roadster top
 

Be on the lookout for a tsb talking to replacing the 5th bow elastic bands to eliminate tonneau cover hitting the top when it doesn't fold up completely in the cold.

If any of you have this issue, the dealership can get a pretty hefty repair booklet from nissan detailing the replacement.

Yes, I have this problem when the temperature is less than warm. The corners of my tonneau cover have been chipped already from hitting the top. Any chance the TSB can be uploaded onto here?

I haven't experienced this yet because I just got my ZR a few months ago (in April). Thanks for the heads up, with Fall/Winter coming up soon, I'll keep a close eye on mine.

No luck with that but I can give you the part numbers which were replaced...

It sounded like it was a pretty common problem, you should be able to take your car in and have them call nissan's tech line so they can get the info before the repair hits an official TSB.

I thought about not posting my thoughts about this latest top issue, but decided to, just in case anyone else feel's the same way as I do.

I'm sure the TSB replacements will work fine, but really Nissan, ELASTIC BANDS??? What about a stainless steel springs instead? The bands can't possibly have the life span of tempered steel springs. They last forever.

To me, this means that if you're not having the problem now, sooner than later, when the bungee's lose their original tension and get even just a little bit weaker, you will. At least the TSB should cover us for some years past warranty?

I am having problems even when the weather outside is not cold... It clips the top when I open it , not all the time though..

Springs, elastic bands so long as it works doesn't matter to me. You have alot less clearance issues to worry about with bands.

But if this is happening to you when it's warm you just need to adjust the pull cable. I posted the service manual pics to do that in the long running top problems thread not too long ago.

Or just have the dealer adjust.

Thanks for "re" mentioning this. I just looked it up and it looks like a very simple and straight forward procedure.

How do you adjust the pull cable? I have the issue with lid clipping the back of the top. Other posts say the 5th Bow bungee needs to be replaced. Dealership wants $575 to replace. Parts are only about $20. Need to find a more reasonable shop in NW Houston area that can do this work.

I traced this before. The adjustment the guy mentioned is actually the adjustment nut on the supporting arm of the 5th bow.

This is for the situation whereby the bow itself hits the cover (Or rather, the two arms that stick out under the cover).

Amazingly i still am even though the z was ditched years ago due to unresolvable issues with the top.
