Performance loss?
 

How much performance do you think we lost with the roadster compared with the coupe?

It weighs in about 200 lbs more so you should see about a .2 second difference in your 1/4 mile time. Handling may suffer a slight bit from the extra weight, but it ceretainly won't make a huge difference.

I think the drop top more than makes up for the slightly reduced performance. I get jealous every time I see a roadster on a nice summer day!!!

I doubt the roadster is anywhere near as ridged as the coupe and coupled with the extra weight you're looking at a significant loss in performance vs. the coupe. The 370z roadster wasn't built from the ground up as a "roadster" like cars such as the S2K. If you review the “roadster” versions of other sport coupes you’ll see that there is normally a fairly significant performance sacrifice made.

I agree with most of that except for the significant loss part. Yes it is heavier but compared with a lot of other sports coupes that get a top chop, Nissan did an excellent job in keeping the weight down and an equally good job with the chassis stiffness.

It feels much more planted than my 350Z track edition with full autocross prep.

Cowl shake is on par with the S2K and the Boxster which impressed me a lot.

Now it will be slower than the Coupe but I don't think it is too significant.

From the reviews I've read before I chose this roadster is the fact it was designed as a bonafide roadster with appropriate chasis reinforcement etc. when Nissan decided to put out this 370ZR.
However for those of us who bought this roadster, I dont think we really think or care about losing out on the top speed or 0 to 60 times compared to the coupe.
For me this roadster is plenty rigid and handling is as good as the coupe after having driven both.

The reviews are a bit misleading. They say it was initially designed as a roadster but that's from a "looks" concept, not a structural one. Rule of thumb is if it's 200 lbs heavier, it's added big support structure underneath to stop flexing. That said, I agree with m4a1mustang on the summer day advantages! :tup:
