Roadster Exhaust Upgrade

Ladies and Gentlemen,

While I do not race or abuse the car and NEVER spin the tires, I do enjoy a short burst of throttle and would like to wake up the exhaust note of my Roaster.

There are countless YouTube videos of every imaginative exhaust system designed for the 370Z, but most are obnoxiously loud and have a drone in the cabin at cruise speeds, at least from what one can hear from the videos.

I want to hear more of my Roadster under bursts of throttle and downshifts, but I do not want the drone at speed, and I want the exhaust to be civilized during normal day to day driving.

The AAM Resonated Short Tail setup appears to come close to what I would consider, but does the Roadster share the same sound stage as the coupe, considering that it doesn't have an enclosed structure?

Is there any Roadster owner who has made exhaust changes that fit my parameters? I only want to do this exhaust change once.

Gene

Hey Gene,

I've had both the Coupe and now own a Roadster.

Your criteria was very similar to mine, if not exact. Long story short, you'll want to get the Invidia Gemini.

I'm sure many others will agree :tiphat:

Hey,

I went with FastIntention 18" exhaust and installed Dynamat Extreme in the trunk to reduce rattling noise that occurred once the exhaust was installed. Find it perfect now not too loud, you can even have a conversation with the top down. And it sounds awesome from the outside :)

Got any sound clips you can post?

I’m thinking the same as well, but would love to hear yours first

I went with the invidia gemini and FI test pipes because i only drive the car with the top down and no amount of sound deadening material in the trunk or door panels will help with that. Invidia is low cost good quality perfect sound on the roadster. Aggressive when you get on it and mild when cruising...just enough to know its there. That with test pipes and you will be as happy as i am :)

AAM Short tails

You definitely want the short tails. Best deep, roaring sound out there. Not overly obnoxious...unless you want them to be!

Fast Intentions with 18" resonator is EXACTLY what you want. You can hear exactly what I mean here:

Thank you! My pleasure. Did another one about post-MAF tubes and I have another one I've been trying to finish for MONTHS now about my Swift Springs that I'll get up as soon as I can, so stay tuned! :-D

I don't have a Roadster, but I am extremely happy with my Berks. I installed the Cat Backs first, and it was almost too quiet for my tastes. Once I installed their High Flow Cats, the sound was perfect. I get a ton of compliments on the sounds, especially at wide-open-throttle. Once you get to highway speeds, you almost can't tell there is a custom exhaust. With all that being said, there is the ever-present "HISSSSS" when downshifting during normal driving. It does not bother me at all...actually sounds pretty exotic :).
