AMERICANS have it good!

Ok, so I am in the Air force stationed in Germany. I was driving in down town K-town and saw a white 370z in the window of a Nissan dealership. I just ordered one so I wanted to see what white looked like in person.

I walked into the dealership and strait to the 370z. Unlike the states there is no customer service in this country so I was able to check out the whole car with no sales people asking me anything! I mean I had the hood open, the hatch, doors, adjusted the seats and everything! If the key was in it I would have started it for sure!

The main thing I wanted to share with you guys is the price. HOLY ****! This was a touring w/sport package, white on black. Here is some pics.

THAT IS 69,126.58 USD!

-So when you think you might be paying too much for your car, remember how much these poor Germans have to pay!

You have to love that America has such a big market that imported cars are cheaper here than even their own country! I would like to know how much 370z's go for in Japan.

Also, from my 2 recent trips to Europe - everything there is more expensive especially when you considered the Euro is bigger than the dollar too. I think $67k here can buy a slightly used GT-R

I think its like that because the dollar is so weak right now. Its the exchange rate thats killing it (in this case USD vs Euro).

fairladyZ34 09-29-2009 01:09 PM

yah a weak dollar makes for cheap costs

Mike 09-29-2009 02:01 PM

most of the difference is in taxes. The European governments don't like big engined cars.

edeeZee 09-29-2009 02:08 PM

Some guy from Hong Kong essentially said the same thing. New 370's are over $60K USD there. He said it has to do with Hong Kong's Gov limiting the number cars on the road, the physical size of the car, the tariff, and so forth.

The U.S. is the land of abundance, our land is very large to say the least, we have copious resources...It's better for Nissan or any import firm to sell more a "commodity" at cheaper prices than to sell for more expensive prices and lower quantitiy.

Yep, we got it good.

How much is a 3 series in Germany?

rudi 09-29-2009 05:28 PM

In Australia we are paying around $75,000 AU for a fully optioned AT minus the 19" wheels which is about $65,378 US. So yes, Americans have it good when it comes to cars.

carguyg35 09-29-2009 05:40 PM

Yeah I think germany has a 19% sales tax built into that price. But I agree it is still expensive.

lots of good info!

I did not realize we had it this good until all the replies! WOW! The exchange rate is low right now at 1 euro to .65 USD! Germans do pay the 19% tax on everything and they also pay per liter of there engines.

I don't think the 370z is that big of a deal when it comes to that considering they drive BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc. But they do pay for it!:rofl2:

Here in the Philippines we have to pay 100% importation tax. So you basically double the cost of the car.

You guys over there really got it good! :)

BanningZ 09-30-2009 08:28 PM

Wow $1000 for white paint?

Lug 10-01-2009 11:40 AM

.........hums the tune "America, **** Yeah!

:D

dang370z 10-01-2009 11:56 AM

Only thing I hate America for is probably coming up with automatics for cars
because I want a freaking manual, but I don't know how to drive it LOL
no idea how to start learning either:driving:

?

FU%K BM(trouble you)!

They are on every corner here! from 1985-2010. Over priced German engineering! I owned a 94 520i BMW and a 97 320i BMW. Both euro spec and drove them here in Germany. I have been in plenty of others as well and they are just so uncomfortable for a "luxury car". Hard leather seats and run flat tires don't make for a comfortable ride!

I don't mean to offend anybody and don't want to start ****. I am just practicing my 1st amendment.

Holliday 10-12-2009 01:15 AM

Gas

Plus gas in Germany is expensive as sh%t! They pay by the liter (1.30euro), 4 liters = 1 gallon, 1.30euro x 4 = 5.20euro per gallon, 5.20euro = $7.74USD!

And we bitch about paying $3.00 a gallon!

How about some input from others on what they are paying outside of the US?

GTRFAN 10-12-2009 04:50 AM

America has it pretty good.

Cars are dirt cheap AND you get to choose the colour of the interior. We get black, black or black in Oz. My car cost me $65k AUD ($59,200USD)

Fuel is dirt cheap. In Oz we pay about $1.20 AUD litre ($4 USD gallon)

Are US gallons different to UK gallons as google spat this out...

1 Imperial gallon = 4.54609188 liters
1 US gallon = 3.78541178 liters

I guess the cost of clothing and living is a lot cheaper as well?

Your healthcare is rubbish though...at least we win one point there. :)

I would love to come over to the states soon as supersize my way around. Did someone say road trip? ;)

awesomez 10-12-2009 11:32 AM

I can't believe most of you didn't already know this. Don't any of you watch top gear? Those prices are not in USD you know.

It has nothing to do with tax. It has everything to do with volume. United states has just under 800 cars per 1000 people and germany has just over 500 cars per 1000 people and when you factor in the population difference you can see the walmart effect.

A lot of other items have the same issue there. However you can have a better standard of living in germany and most west europe countries if you make $50k or less a year. If you make more then $50k it's USA all the way. When you get into $100k a year and more, you're so much better off here.

lando76 10-17-2009 02:41 PM

Not everyday I feel good about this country but thanks to this fine young person I now realize that it could always be worse. $67000
