My 370Z Purchase

I just bought a like-new, red, 2010 370Z A7 convertible with 16k miles. It is fantastic, of course.

The dealership wanted me to pay $28,000 + $1,500 to be "certified pre-owned".

After negotiating for several hours, I drove out of there paying $24,000 which included the certification (extending the warranty until 2020). Taxes/tag/title were not included. Winter approaching soon may have been a factor. I think this car was priced too high to sell quickly, so it was on the lot for several months.

Since this wasn't my first time buying a car, I got financed through my own bank and showed up with a check made out to the dealership for $22k. I believe this is a good strategy for getting the price you want. I don't think they were going to do $22k for this car, but jumped for just 2k more.

Was this just an okay deal or a great deal? Thoughts?

be happy regardless

I have purchased two Z cars (2011 and 2014) recently and have tried my best to find out if I got a good deal. What I have found through many posts on this website is that prices are all over the map. Probably the most important thing is if you could afford it, and are happy with it, then it was a good deal. I purchased my new 2011 in 2012 (auto, touring) for $35,000 and two years later with 14,800 miles on it (and garaged at all times) got $25,000 for it. Did I get a good deal??? It was probably fair but some folks might have got more. My new 2014 (auto, nav, sport, touring) I got for $40,300. I thought I was getting an okay deal but some on this board paid less. But I am happy with the purchase and it was probably fair, but not great, but now that I have the car I am pleased to be tooling around with it. Enjoy the car.
