But how much does it REALLY cost....

Hi guys, im new to the forum and im thinking about buying a 370z and working on it. i'm 21 right now, and i have the $ to buy the car outright, but i dont want to get it until i am 100% prepared. (i.e. i know exactly what kind of mods im gonna want, upgrades etc).

I've read from the forums that it will cost approximately another 10 000$ to get it tuned by nismo? also im guessing having all the other best upgrades will cost me at least another 5-7k$? What kind of upgrades should i be looking for and what are ones that i should steer clear from?

Again, sorry if this question sounds stupid, i am new to the forum and new to 370z's in general... this will be the first car that i purchase for myself.

thanks,
BjjKing

first, welcome to the forums.

just do some searching in the different sections we have and i'm sure you'll find the answers. scroll down the main page and you'll see an engine section. a lot of people on here have already done plenty of mods on their cars.

welcome to the forums.. it depends what u want to do with the car if u can be more specific i can help u out

i dont even know where to start... but i am posting from my phone so the spelling is gonna be a little wierd. anyway if u r buying the car just to mod it and not appreciate the car for what it is you might wanna get something else. mods are important but there are so many other cars out there u should consider if u only want to mod it. you had posted somethibg similar to this on another thread but all i can say is do waaaaaaay more research and test drives and join other forums before u get yourself a huge car payment and regret it. and if this is gonna be your first car u put money into take it easy because you'll more than likely waste your money if youre too gun ho about it. just do research is my best advice. and btw since its on my phone im not gonna edit or proof read this lol

If you are rely wanting nismo to tune it than that is great. But keep in mind the driving is going to be come rough from the stiff suspension. I am 21 myself I am upgrading from a 03 civic coupe. The reasons I am getting the Z is because it fits who I am and has enough power that I do not have to mess with anything. In my case I am dropping 6k or more down as a down payment and using a loan to pay for the rest and pay for my insurance for one year. That way the only payments I have are to the bank. Good Luck man I hope you get what you want. Welcome as well.

If you're looking to do heavy mods, you shouldn't be looking for a new car and expecially not a 370Z. After you buy it and start modifying it, you lost the warranty, you lost about 20% of it's value. Depending on the trim you purchased, you might have just thrown 5-10k into fire. After you finish your 10-15k worth of mods, your car will loose about 40% of the value and the value of the mods. You could potentially throw away 35k by the end. Buy a used 350Z with warranty about to expire.

thanks this helps a lot.... what types of mods would make the warranty invalid?

Are you looking to stay NA or go FI that would help

Get a base + sports package.
You'll love it and won't regret it.

Each dealership has some say in this but, you name the mod and I'll tell you why they will tell you it voids the warranty. Their goal is to void your warranty unless you have some pull with people. Intake, exhaust, ecu, pretty much anything.

Why don't you consider a car that can perform to what your expectations are stock? Modding cars reduces reliability and resale value.

Where do people come up with this stuff. Are you kidding me, I would love to have warranty work, becuse it makes money! Why would I deny making a profit?

Is it not true that Nissan headquarters will not come there personally and check whether the car is modded and by how much? Since nobody verifies behind you, why would you still deny warranty work? Since I know nissan dealership owners on a first name basis, I could ask them, but since you are here, why don't you tell us? Why do you deny warranty work on modded cars (the question is not if you do, we know you do) if you're making money of off it. Could you be also making money of off the number of people you deny warranty repairs for?
