Question................Came "this" close to getting a 370z

base 6speed manual.......
with just splash guards, mats, trunkmat, destination of $720

base msrp of 29930 with all this puts sticker at 31,080.

I had a trade in car which I was getting $7,000 for...which is the full value of my tradein, which I was very pleased with.

However,

I wasnt that educated in "dealing" with dealerships. so I spoke to a family friend, and he told me about the whole invoice issue, which took me off guard.....but now I know.

I didnt sign anything....but essentially I was told:

$31,080 (sticker)
- 7,000 (tradein)
-----------------
$24,080 (tradein value)

Invoice of: $28,043
minus $24,080
-------------------
$3,943 - what I'm actually getting for my car.

When I found this out a few hours after I authorized them to do a credit check, by giving them my social.....I double taked everything, and decided not to do this.

In the state I live in (my username gives it away), I have a right to rescind in 3 days, and I'll probably end up exercising this right, unless I can stretch out how much guys? Think I can squeeze anything more out of them given the info I now know?

x2. we are like, 2 months before the 10s come out. They need to ditch these things fast.

the same thing happened to my mom when she wanted to trade in her murano for a newer murano.

they gave her a steal on the trade in but msrp on the purchase, and ended up getting an "not so great" deal.

we came back the next day, told them, forget the trade in, lets talk price on the purchase. Got it down to invoice, then told them, ok NOW, I want this much for my trade in.

worked out great for us! dont let them throw everything at you all at once, thats how they play their "games".

Hi the_Alabama,

Since you havent actually signed yet, just go back and tell them that upon further research you figured out the deal wasn't what you originally thought and try to open up the discussion again. This way you could still try to work with them and see if you can reach a deal. If you haven't signed yet, the 3 day cooling period doesnt even apply.

2009 7sp auto with sport package floor mats splash guards 10miles on odometer
MSRP $35,285 dealer is selling for $31999 ($835 below invoice). is this a good deal? i thought the 2009s would be thousands of $ below invoice now

oh sorry, pearl white..really its good? if i wait for 2010 i can use my VPP # to buy at invoice so im thinking all i can save is about $835 + whatever nissan increases the 2010 by = ~$1100 (?) for a one year old car..is it worth it when i resell the car?

frost 09-26-2009 01:29 PM

Anything under invoice is a good deal right now. But yeah, when the 10s hit, I'd expect a little bit better of a deal to get them off the lot.

kdo2milger 09-26-2009 01:41 PM

if its the color and options that you want and it only has 10 miles on it it isnt used my friend its still brand new...

take it if its got what you want otherwise wait and use your vpp num to get the exact options you like...:twocents:
