What's my 370z worth?

I have a 2012 370Z M6 Touring Sports Package, Navigation, Backup Camera, Aux A/V Inputs, Silver Exterior, Black Leather Interior with 45,000Mi and Gold Class Toyota Transferable Warranty till 100,000Mi or 7 years. The only mod if your even count it is a Navigation Bypass switch so I can use all the features of the Navigation including the camera when moving. The car is flawless.

I live in Austin, TX. I am having trouble with calculating its worth with the more than average miles. Anyone want to chime in? My reason for asking. I insurance is pretty high on this car and I am not sure if I want to keep it long term. The 2 variables are years and mileage that I am factoring before making a BIG Decision.

:ugh: so you think toyota's and nissans are exactly the same?

btw, have you checked kbb? that's a good reference to start things off. then check autotrader for cars with similar options and milage... then take it to carmax to have the car physically appraised.

kenchan 06-13-2014 04:13 PM

.. then  for a while.. :icon17:

Can I get extented Toyota coverage on my 370 too? I didn't know that was an option.

Troyz 06-13-2014 04:25 PM

They aren't but since I bought it from a Toyota Dealership that's they only option I had for a warranty and it beat Nissan extended warranty by $1000s. I can take it to any Nissan dealership for repairs. It covers about everything. I already used it on the Clutch Master/Slave issue. It cost be $100 to fix.

Its too nice to get a ridiculous low ball from Carmax. When I was looking for 370Z's there, the ones I found were scratched and beat up.

huh, that's cool i guess.

carmax to me has been good. ive sold several cars there already... much better deal than trading it in. selling privately is too much hassle for me.

Wholesale (trade-in) value is $24-25k.

You dont get any more in trade in because you think your above average miles for the year car is "flawless." Carmax will give you about the most fair price you can possibly get for trade in value. If you aren't happy with that, then try to sell it your self. You miiiiight get between trade in and retail value for it. But everyone that kicks the tires is going to lowball you anyway. Save ur self the hassle, look on KBB and then take it to carmax. If its a case of you owing too much to get out of. The minimal difference between a private sell and trade in value wont help you anyway.

Thanks!

I wanted to kick it around here 1st to get a feel what enthusiast think its worth.

I might opt for Autotrader or here 1st before Craigslist. There's hardly any 370z with the combination I have...Someone will be lucky and a bumper to bumper warranty to boot will surely an asset.

Ah that sucks to hear. How much are you paying monthly for insurance?

MadChemist 06-13-2014 11:48 PM

This should get you a decent estimate

I looked at trading in the 13 nismo after the wife got preg. trade in, best deal was 28. Sell it outright? I had someone on the line for 38 but I couldnt front the extra for payoff. So I would say you could sell the car from 32-35 grand to a private buyer. Maybe that's a LITTLE optimistic, but i think it can be done.

keep in mind my car had like 5k miles on it at the time, xtended waranty, gap, every extra you can buy ect. yours has 45 and is a year older and is a "tier" lower on the price scale. So dont know, thats my 2 cents.

Better than Bluebook

MadChemist,

Thanks for the info! That's getting closer to what I am thinking without the warranty. I will offer to sell it with or without the warranty (If I decide to sell). I will call the warranty department tomorrow and ask about various options and how to transfer the warranty.

The dealer might budge a little then when you finally agree on a price if you were buying the same car. Then they take you to a secluded finance room they will push their warranty. That can be haggled quite a bit but for the same platinum warranty will be $3000 - $5000+ because they can't sell it as a warranty for a new car. What does Dealer Retail get you for $2000 more? A 370Z that might have no service records but with various options for financing.

I bought and sold cars on CL and AT before without issues.

victort 06-16-2014 06:36 PM

32-33,000 for an almost 3 year car? that's very optimistic.

Troyz 06-20-2014 01:11 PM

Carmax offer $25000

They offered me $25K on my car. They said its still under drive train warranty till 60,000Mi which helped the value. If I traded it in for the a car with the same value I save up to $1563 in taxes.

That makes the Private Party value about $26,500. That's right on the money.

** I put it up for sale. I will post it on here later **
