Looking to buy... question

Hi all,

So I'm looking for a 370z Touring with the sports package and all the options (navi, floor mats, trunk mat, kick plates, splash guards).

I found a dealer with the color I wanted (PG). Here's what the Internet manager emailed me:

370Z Touring
Platinum Graphite
$41,640
Floor Mats, Navigation, Splash guards, Sports pkg
YOUR SPECIAL INTERNET PRICE $38,678

So I emailed him back telling him that based on my research, the invoice price is $37,796. I also told him that since the 2010s are coming out soon, my price would be $37,000.

He emailed me back saying that the number he gave me was the dealer invoice plus "cost for adds on the car which are Wheel locks, Door guards and Nitrogen filled tires".

What do you guys think? Thanks!

Tell him to remove the wheel locks, door guards and nitrogen filled tires.

Don't I want the wheel locks? Or can I get those for a better price somewhere else? Thanks!

kdo2milger 09-14-2009 01:14 PM

wheel locks are 51 bucks

nitrogen, well dont even pay for it :shakes head:

and door guards, did they have some sort of supernatural powers to protect you from door dings :icon14:

madman555 09-14-2009 01:19 PM

Awesome. What did you guys think of my $37,000 offer?

kdo2milger 09-14-2009 01:21 PM

i would ask for it at invoice or a few hundred less, say 37,500...

that extra 500 spread out in 60 months isnt going to break you on monthly pymts...just my :twocents:

He just replied back:

"Lets assume that I can remove those items.. The dealer Invoice is $38,278 on that vehicle and I would be more then happy to show it to you. If I sell you the car at Dealer invoice would you consider that a fair deal?"

I added up the prices in the invoice thread and got $37,796. I wonder if his price includes the destination fee. I guess I can either pay invoice now or wait until the 2010s hit and see how low the 09s drop.

is that out the door price? (including TTL)

FuszNissan 09-14-2009 01:32 PM

$37,000.00 Is to low in my opinion, but a couple hundred under invoice is fair.

No way that is OTD

Agree with what everyone else is saying. Couple hundred under invoice is going to be a good deal, its still a hot car so they aren't desperate to push them off lots. Send him a break down of the items/packages on the car, their MSRPs and their INVOICE pricing. Then show him that the total = whatever you said it does. Ask him which items are incorrect or you are missing to achieve the invoice he is listing.

Make sure to include destination, its a significant chunk of change and its not the same as dealer fees.

Awesome advice. I told him that I was looking for $37,500 before everything for a total of about $41,000 OTD. He responded with cash or finance and that he would see how close he could get to that number. I'm a first time buyer and won't rush into anything but does cash vs financing make a difference?

im just guessing but maybe cash is easier for them. Cash you show up with a check and drive off with the car. Finance they need to fill out paperwork and speak to the finance person and maybe they have some kind of processing fee for that. Just a guess though.

In a dealers eyes, yes. Financing they can mark up the intrest rate and capture more gross. So if the Dealer is going to take a skinny they have a change of making some gross in the back. Which isn't a bad thing, it allows them to make a deal.

if his price does include dest fee then he's already giving it to you for $240 under invoice. dest fee is $720 (if i remember) but the difference between your invoice and his is only $482.
DO IT!!!

He got back to me with this:

Vehicle Base price plus Freight - $33,817

The options are as follows:

Floor mats - $89
Navigation - $1,605
Splash Gaurds - $165
Sport Package - $2,602

Total = $38,278

Seems like a pretty solid price to me, yes? Now I'm deciding if I should pull the trigger on it. I'm driving an 05 Scion tC which has zero issues with it. I could probably drive it for ten more years without a problem. But I've wanted the 370z since last year before it even came out. Hmm......

So did you end up buying it?

No... I told myself to wait for the 2010s to come out and see how much the price drops. But now I'm reconsidering again. Can't make up my mind. The dealership still has 3 in my color and model so there's no pressure to rush

I see. I'll bet you could get a better deal on the 09 though. And since the changes are really minimal on the 2010, I'd go with the 09 if I were you and just enjoy it.
