thoughts on high mileage?
hey everyone, been looking for a used Z (in canada) found one for $21950 with 124K km on it.. touring and sport package.
thoughts on the mileage? are there things that i need to look for? its a 2009 z thanks for any help |
here is my thought DONT BUY IT... you can get one that has like 30 k miles for 22 k
|
I wouldn't be afraid to buy a well-maintained modern car with that many miles but, as DavidZ370 says, you can find one with with a lot less miles for that kind of money. I'm getting $19.5k for my '09 Touring with 24k miles on it. Not sure what they will be asking for it, but $22-23k should be in the ballpark.
We haven't signed the paperwork yet. It's yours for $20k. :) |
For those non-conversioning Z enthusiasts, that's about 77K miles. :tiphat:
|
It's out of warranty and over priced. Keep looking.

30-40k miles that ive seen can go from 29-34k canadian. Thanks for all the input

I think we are all saying price because most of us experience being surprised by low mileage and fair prices when we started looking, I know I was. ...But if you are still going to buy it: If it's manual, has the clutch been replaced Have they done the recalls (steering wheel lock, etc) Are the rotors ok, not scored or warped Any unusual tire wear, plus are they in good shape $$$ Alignment or pulling issues on test drive Are the seats in good condition, not torn or cut from use Check A/C performance, undercarriage damage, fluid leaks. If you do purchase it check this site for great info on changing fluids and customizing. Good luck |
Pricing in Canada is higher than the US you will not find a car in Canada for the same price that our american friends see. If you look at US cars be wary of the history there has been problems of unscrupulous dealers bringing in cars that have been, flooded, accident write offs and returns under lemon laws etc. I did look into importing a car myself and it seems you need to be saving about 10grand to make it worth while. Brokerage, shipping, exchange rates, custom charges, conversons for things like daytime running lights, replacement of stupid things like visor stickers to bilingual all add up and kill the advantage of the lower price.
My advice take your time, there may not be a lot of cars in our market but there aren't a lot of buyers either. Do your research know the prices and what you are willing to pay and yes $22k for a 2009 with 124k KM is high. |

Thank you! And i wasnt actually considering importing a z from the states because of all the hassles and by the time you get a good deal itll be the same price here in canada. I saw 2 z in autotrader which are writeoffs. The damages are just exterior( front bumper, fenders, rear bumper) is it worth it to buy a writeoff and was just planning to buy aftermarket body kit. Or are there more thing to look for? Thanks for your input Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
