Went to order a car today
So today I went to get some pricing information on ordering a Z from a couple dealerships in the area. I decided on ordering a 2014 pearl white base, with the sport package and automatic. I really wanted the In-Mirror RearView monitor, but I guess now you cannot add that unless it is a touring. It would be nice if Nissan would take the option off of their website for the base car. Ultimately with the options I wanted the MSRP is about $35,660.
The first dealership was a waste of time, as they told me they would have to go through some other guy at a different location to get the pricing. It would have been nice if one of three people I was in contact with at the dealership had told me that before I drove 30 minutes to get there. They knew I was coming solely to price the car, so it sort of rubs me the wrong way and makes it likely I will not be ordering from them. The second dealership I went to was actually able to work with me. They started off trying the "this is your monthly payment" bs, but I got them to talk OTD price. They first offered $35,350 but I mentioned a lower price I had been quoted and they immediately offered the car for $33,900. I told them I will still be keeping my appointments to discuss pricing with other dealerships and they seemed very eager to try and beat any other offers I get. I personally don't really want to order from this dealership, as I haven't heard the best things about their service department, however, if they can beat the price of the others then I probably will go with them and just use a different service department. I believe I can get them to around $33,300 or maybe lower, so let me know what you guys think about how realistic that price is. Also, if any of you have any tips I can use during this process, I would appreciate it as well. This is my first time buying a car, so this is all new to me. |
Try emailing a bunch of dealerships around the country. I had to fly to St. Louis and drive back. For the cost of a $169 Southwest airlines ticket, I saved $3500.

Dtul can you tell me what dealership you got that $33900 quote from? I think I'm finally getting my car in a couple of months and that price sounds pretty good.

So a quick update. I went to another dealership that I originally wanted to order from with the $33,900 price I was offered at the second dealership. I got the new dealer to match the $33,900 and in addition they are able to add the RearView Mirror, so basically I am getting that for free since I am paying the same price as I was quoted without the mirror at the second dealer. I think it is a pretty fair deal, MSRP is just over $35,500 and the invoice was $33,883. I was expecting to pay about $34,800 something, so I am a little surprised. Anyways the car is not actually ordered yet, I will be putting the order in on Friday. Forgot my checkbook today so I could not write the deposit check and Friday is the soonest I can get back down there.
Here are the options I ultimately decided on: 2014 370Z 7AT Base with the Sport Package Midnight Blue Back-up cam Carpeted mats Illuminated Door Sills Splash Guards Estimated lead time is 12-16 weeks, so I figure best case would be me getting it sometime in early January, but I figure it will probably be around February. This is going to be a long wait, but gives me some time to plan out where I want to start the modding and possibly have some parts ready to go when I get the car. Anyways, thanks so much for the help guys. If any of you are in the DFW area and have some questions about which dealers I felt were good and which were not, feel free to hit me up and I will be happy to help you out. |
is your price OTD or before TTL?

So I placed my order today. Got it priced at $33,900 and feel that is pretty good considering invoice was $33,883. Process was quick and easy and I ended up getting the RearView monitor, which two other dealerships told me I could not get on a base. Estimated time of arrival is let January or early February, so this is going to be a long 3-4 months for me. Cannot wait for it to arrive, but I guess this just gives me more time to decide if I want to wait until next summer to start the modding or mod it from the get-go. Thanks for the help you guys have given me, I really appreciate it and I really look forward to having a car I can post pictures of instead of just drooling over y'alls.

Congrats! Why such a long wait again? Too bad no instant gratification but surely worth it.
