Good deal? Buying car tomorrow.

I might be buying a Black 2009 370z Base 6 speed manual tomorrow.

We settled at 24k OTD. It has 32, XXX miles. Here's the link. It has a CAI and possible an exhaust, i'm going to see the car in person today to verify.

Cars for Sale: 2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe in Arcadia, FL 34266: Coupe Details - 348329595 - AutoTrader.com

What do you guys think? Fair, a little high, little low. Any input is appreciated!

6MT-Z34 08-14-2013 01:30 PM

It looks a little high for a base 09 , I think you can get a sports for that price and more or less miles ...?

NickTurnon 08-14-2013 01:31 PM

Price is a bit high.

It looks like it's got an aftermarket sport spoiler ($120). Exhaust (400-600). Window tint + visor.($150) Illuminated Door Sills ($140)

Keyless Start? Viper? - Or did they just mean keyless entry/push button?

Its a manual which is about $1500 less then the auto tranny.

That being said, check out a 2011 in my area with 36k (4k more) on it. for $21k
Nissan 2011 370Z 6 Speed Manual

OH yeah, and that CAI looks like an EBAY intake. $100 or so.

Zbrah 08-14-2013 01:33 PM

It's a base model, so I'd pass on it. At the very least you should go for a base with the sport package, you wont regret it.

Chuck33079 08-14-2013 01:35 PM

I'd walk away. For that kind of money get a stock one with the sport package.

:iagree:

6spd 08-14-2013 01:52 PM

I traded my 09 a couple weeks ago, dealer turned around and listed it for 23,900. It was a base sport manual w/ 39k miles. If you could get the car youre talking about for more like 23 OTD thats ok. It also depends on how much of that OTD price is from the taxable amount. OTD with a trade is different from OTD without.

loiro370z 08-14-2013 05:56 PM

Little high , mine 2011,36k miles, sport package cost me 24k
haggle it to 22k if you really want it

Elan 08-14-2013 06:45 PM

I walked away with a 2009 Nismo with 26k miles for 26,000.

I have to agree I think you can do better.

Also look at these to help you compare..

Used car and truck inventory for sale in Minnesota - Wayzata Nissan is the largest used car dealership located near Minneapolis, Twin Cities and St Paul MN.

There were better deals a month or two ago, their stock has thinned some,
but still a few good ones.

Holy 08-14-2013 10:15 PM

Thanks for all the advice guys, its really beneficial, i really appreciate it.

I went today to see the car in person (3 hour drive!) and the car felt awesome on the road, definitely a step up from my 2009 Camry! My two friends and I looked at everything, we inspected the car as if it was worth a million dollars. Glad i brought them along.

The bad: Glued on LED strips on headlights. 3M taped spoiler (i'll drill it). Some minor scratches (plan to get the whole car wet sanded/buffed the day after buying the car). Cheap CAI (i would replace immediately).

The good: Invidia Gemini catback. Sport spoiler. Flawless interior.

Apparently 24k OTD is the best he could do. I'll wait tomorrow and see if he will budge and call me. If not i'll call in a couple days and tell them that 22.5k OTD is my final number.

I've been looking for a black 370z 6speed for under 25k for 5 months now. And this has been one of the two that has actually met that criteria. I check Autotrader, Cars.com, and Cargurus on a daily basis for anything new. You guys seemed to have gotten awesome deals compared to what has been listed here in South Florida.

Thanks again guys, i'll have updates.

Its the standard, push to start. I didn't know the illuminated door sills were an option, i thought they were standard, it's a pretty cool feature.

If that deal was within 500 miles of me i would be all over it.

How come i can't find these deals in florida!? I've been looking for months now, and i can't seem to find any 370z in black for under 25k. I was hoping to get a base/sport but at this point i would even take a base.

peleincubus 08-14-2013 11:04 PM

One way flights are pretty inexpensive. Especially if it is a $1500 difference for a car that is specific to want you want.

The problem is that im using my car as a down payment. But it could still work, ill take it into consideration.

RCL 08-15-2013 03:01 AM

wow had no idea these cars were going for so little now

Wonka2581 08-15-2013 03:13 AM

I payed 29,000 for my 2011 base with 1,800 miles.... and still has warrenty...

Holy 08-16-2013 12:39 PM

I walked away. But i just received a call today saying they could do 22.5k OTD.

There's a good chance i'll be picking up the car Sunday.

Akbubba47 08-16-2013 12:50 PM

dont buy this car. you need someone who knows how to negotiate with you. they are asking 24124 and you only got them down to 24, that a horrible job. haggle the crap out of them, tell them you want the stock intakes back on the car, and that the exhaust sounds like crap. theres curbage on the rim etc. i got min down from 24500 to 22 within 30 minutes, and it came with volk te37s. its all about how to talk to people. i guarantee that car was traded in and he didnt get a dollar past 18500 for it. theres plenty of room to negotiate.

Not when you consider that's OTD. He ended up doing better, but when you consider TT&L, it's not like he only negotiated them down $124.

Zbrah 08-16-2013 02:11 PM

Here's one from carmax that matches what you're looking for, much better option IMO

Check it out 2010 Nissan 370Z in Hartford, CT- 9376532 at carmax.com

The thing is that they're giving me 11.7k for my 2009 Camry with 70k miles. I bought it for 11.5k last year. So im making up for it through my trade in.

That sounds like a pretty good deal now. Tell them to throw in a free versa and they have a deal

That no bad deal.:icon18:
Now, be careful with the extras
1-Extended warranty Don't buy it, they are going to try to push it hard to recoup some money, buy it a from a Nissan dealer

Gap insurance you don't need it ,they will try to pass it over you.

Paint sealant ,interior protection-you can do it yourself for 100 bucks, they sell it for 400 to 600.

Financing? Get your own finance and make them beat your rates, ask them about their buy rates, those rates are negotiable let say they offer you 6% they buy rate is 4% that 2 points, means 1500 or more for the terms of the loan, that profit for them.

Dealer fees are negotiable, haggle it till the end

Any way or another they gonna make a profit, they don't sell cars for a loss.

Hope this help

Zbrah 08-17-2013 02:11 PM

No matter what model Camry you're trading, it's not worth anywhere near 11,700. Last year you paid RETAIL price of 11.5 so a year later the wholesale price should be around 8K+ or - because of different models.

That means good news, you are paying less for the Z than you think. They took money from their Z & added it to the trade.

What I don't understand is how others pay $20k+ for a 2009 base model Z.

If 2014 base Z's can be had for under $30k, why would anybody pay real money for an 09????? IT'S ALMOST 5 YEARS OLD!!!! :icon14:

I also would not buy a Z with after market exhaust. Since most guys add exhaust to their car for the sound. Most of those cars are always accelerated just to hear the sound. 30k of that driving gives the car 80k worth of wear.

That's what I was thinking. You can fly just about anywhere one way for $500. And if you buy out of state you get the fun of driving your new car back home. And since it's used you don't have to baby because of the breakin period. Winner all the way around.

I was thinking of doing the same thing if I'd have decided to go with the GT500 Shelby. THey're way cheaper in the south than here in Cali. Like $5-10K cheaper. Don't about Z's, whether they're cheaper out of state.

I'd have more than paid for the price of a plane ticket to Texas or Mississippi and gotten to drive it back to Cali. YEa.

Not sure what everyone around here is smoking lately but that's a decent deal. That's like $19k before tax, title and licence?

andre12031948 08-17-2013 06:25 PM

this is confusing

Are you saying that they are giving you 11.7 after your out of door price????

Can you show us how the order is/will be written? with the trade & taxes.

Right now it's very confusing

One more please. Did you pay cash last year for the Toyota?

I just checked Camry value & I was wrong/low on my appraisal(sorry).

Its a awkward position. Does the car continue on a normal path of depreciation or does the new price drastically affect the depreciation, who knows. It's tough to pick a perspective, but at the end of the day i dont think used 370Zs will alter in price too much.

I actually JUST paid off the car within a year of actually purchasing/financing it.

The OTD price is 24k. They are giving me 11.7k. My car is worth 10k MAX to a dealer, so what they did was up the value of my car to bring us to even terms instead of lowering the price of the 370z.

Basically, i'm assuming that the 370z is costing me 22.5k ish. Which i believe is a fair deal considering how much 370z are going for in my area for the past 6 months. Maybe its more expensive/cheaper in other states.

Sorry for the confusion. I understand that i should've made it clear from the beginning. My mind works in weird ways when it comes to money.

The drive to the dealership is 3 hours away so its been tough to haggle on prices over the phone, because of this i'm going to have to wait until Tuesday to do the paperwork and have the most glorious 3 hour drive home in my life.

Thank you for clearing it up. It's nice to see a person that understands their car deal, like REAL trade value & what they are showing you and where that money comes from:) Good job & the best of luck.
I'm against buying extended warranties, but in your case the five year powertrain is almost over. Won't give you advice because you seem to know what you're doing, however if you do get one(after negotiating on it:) to avoid hassle & pain try to get a Nissan warranty.....

Thanks for the advice! I actually did end up turning down their warranty and I'm still contemplating on getting one from a third party. I'm 19 and I paid this car myself through countless 70 hour work weeks, so i don't really have enough funds to throw money at warranties at this point, but maybe in the future.

Here's the only decent picture that i took, the other ones were blurry. My friend's bike, my other friends slammed Accord, and my new baby! It is still surreal that i actually own a car like this. Can't wait to give her a thorough wash tomorrow and get the insurance paperwork out of the way too.

Zbrah 08-21-2013 01:37 AM

did you make sure they gave you the right amount as trade? or did you pay 22 OTD including your trade? because if you did, they stole your trade.
