supposedly ordered a Z - how long till Vin #?
 

Im having a gut feeling that maybe my dealership did not order my Z yet.
Mostly this feeling comes after finding out from various members on this board saying that their dealerships never ordered their Z and they never told them until months later.

I ordered (or so i think) my car on the 3rd, the guy said on the 5th is when they do their ordering so they will place the order on the 5th and 1 to 2 weeks later should have a VIN number and then we can finalize paperwork from there.

its been 4 weeks and They still dont have a VIN# for me. Im going to go to the dealership today and give them a hard time about it, but before I do,

How long does it really take to get a VIN number after a car is ordered? anyone who ordered in the past or any of the sponsored dealers care to answer? I appriciate it.

Also for the dealers, Can I demand to see proof that they ordered my car on the 5th? will they have documentation for that? I dont want them to use a "We dont have any kind of documentation as such, U just gotta trust us" line.

Yes, you can have them go to NNAnet, go to OMS (Order Management System), then go to Inquiry, then status, and they should be able to pull up the order under the production month.

It does take a while with vehicles coming from the Japan Plant. 4 Weeks should be long enough. But they might not have ordered it yet. Sometimes you can't specail order with out having a car allocated to you. Check and see if they turned in a Specail Order Fourm to there Nissan Distribution Rep. No allocation= no car.

So did you ever get VIN on car? I ordered my last week and they are promising me a VIN next month when car hits production line.

No VIN number yet, I talked to the guy just this past Saturday and he gave me something similar to what Lou provided - but no VIN.

the VIN doesn't get issued until the car is on the ship, at least that was the way it was when I pre ordered my 350Z

interesting, I guess that means on the plus side, I know im getting my car SOON, when they give me a VIN.

my dealer told me it would be 1 to 2 weeks to get a VIN and then 4 to 5 weeks after that to get my car. (talk about BS!).

Fusz is the s**T. Only if lived near him i would order mine for i would be sure that my car wouldn't be on any wild testdrives and would receive good treatment.

yeah once you get the VIN it should be about a week to arrive to the US since I assume yours would arrive in LA since you are in Vegas, then usually the ones without port installed options like spoilers, splash guards..... get processed first and released to the trucking company to go to the dealer.
