What's everyone leasing the 2012 Z for?

I recently leased my 2012 Z touring, sport package, manual trans, no nav, 15k miles/year, maintenance plan, $0 down for $460/month for 39 months. Good deal? What's everyone else leasing this same car for?

nismochiq 08-18-2012 09:31 AM

you leased it for that much? when you could have paid near the same amount a month for an extra two years? That is as much as I pay for my NISMO.

nismochiq 08-18-2012 09:33 AM

I didnt mean to sound rude just shocked is all my apologies

2012-370Z 08-18-2012 09:42 AM

You purchased a 2012 Nismo for $460/month with $0 down for 60 months?

nismochiq 08-18-2012 09:46 AM

I am not leasing it I purchased a nismo with money down for $490 a month. 0%APR and it came with maintenance for three years. the money I put down was calculated so it would be as much as a base model.

I was just curious to why you leased is all again I didnt mean to be rude just wanting to know why.

You get it from Ed Martin?

We're good, I'm not offended by your statements or questions.

OK so you're at $490/month + money down which is not necessarily "basically the same amount" depending on how much you put down. I put $0 down. Although yours is a Nismo and mine is not. The reason I leased it is because it's typically cheaper from my experience and I can get into another new car in 3 years without having to wait 5 years to get to a point where I can sell a used car without a loss.

The leases are not good this month. The 2012 had a great lease March through July, but they pulled the plug.

We are now back to, "Buy it, it's not worth leasing, you can get a G37 for much less on lease!"

Ok I understand. I was just curious. I am just a Z girl for life. I just wanted your point of view on the matter. I never really understood why people leased to begin with but if you necessarily like a new car every 3 years then it works. So in that case not a bad deal but still an ouch to the pocket for not being able to own it :( and to others posts not going into which is better or not, just wanted a point of view is all I am open to others opinions.

I think leasing has it advantages. For instance, if I was to ever get myself into a maintenance nightmare like a BMW or Audi I would lease. That way after 3 years of ownership and the warranty runs out then it's someone elses problem.

Work with a guy that own a BMW 5 series. Something simple as a battery change ran him close to $600 becuase the dealer has to flash the ECU (so I'm told)

nismochiq 08-18-2012 10:59 AM

Flash the ECU? Lol wow for a battery change? That sounds like a hey over voltage might occur because of poor wiring...smh no I understand with the BMWs Audis and Lexus' so I can agree with you on that. It seems like a nightmare that I would not want to want to deal with. so that answers my original question thanks :) I guess seeing how the 370z is still new to people one doesn't know the maintenance problems that might occur but in fairness not a lot is expensive the most part is buying an overhauled engine for 4500 in later years which to me is better than buying another $40k vehicle. But then again I can see the extras on tires lines an breaks are up there too. So either way you gain or lose good call though

if you dont plan on keeping the car or get sick of driving the same car, it jus make sense to get lease deal. you are basically paying the price of depreciation.
but op could be paying little less for monthly if he had negonitated through.

for op, whats the buy out price after 36 months lease?

-Buy out after 39 months is $22.5K

diddy535 08-18-2012 12:28 PM

So that's 17,940 for 39 months plus the buy out being $22,500 thats $40,440 which I think might be a little bit steep.

-Yeah I have no plans to purchase at the end of the lease. Pretty sure $460/month is cheaper then what the monthly payment for a purchase would be for my vehicle. Hence the reason for the lease.
