Honda dealersip offered
To buy my 2011 370Z with Sport package for 29000 dollars. The car has currently about 1344 miles on the odometer. I told them it has a Gold prefered 5/75000 warranty. They told me it was not transferable to the dealership. Do you guy think that is a good sell price? :tiphat:
|
Do you guys think I should sell it out right myself? I was thinking I could get a little more fo it selling it myself.
|
The warranty can transfer actually, probably not under the name for the dealership but whoever buys it next can still have it.

SSJJ, You sure do not drive much in a year. How much was your cars base price? The offer seems reasonable, while you might get more on your own, this sure would be quick and easy.
|
Or cancel the warranty and get prorated refund. Then sell it. 29K seems like a good price if you don't want your Z anymore.
|
29K for a base w/ sport sounds like a good deal
29K for touring w/sport is not a good deal IMO |
Off the top of my head the car stickered at approxiamately 34800. The car is black on black M6 with Sport Package. Has everything except illuminated kick plates. I have those NIB but have not installed them to date. Have rubber mats over original mats and car still smells new inside. Also covered and never driven in inclimate weather.
I would or could sell warranty with car or cash it in etc. Thanks for the comments. |
They generally offer 31-33k here in dallas for base sports up to 10k miles but try getting one any lower than invoice out here... very difficult. I notice on cars.com, Z pricing is very competitive and below invoice deals can be had often.
That said... I would try for $30-31k |
Thanks all for the comments and thoughts.

$29k is the black book (auction value) that they could pull pretty easily in your area if they just auctioned the car. I would offer them invoice for whatever else you replace the Z with and not a penny more if they want to give you the "auction" value of your car. Otherwise, ask for more ($30k is fair)
|
Thanks for the tips. LOL at Honda for having anything to replace the Z with. They were close by and I thought it could be conveinent and easy. I was considering a quick sale for reclaiming some additional garage space etc. But I thought 29000 was good but I could do better. Thanks again.

:O with 1344 miles 29k they were trying to steal it from you
you can easily sell for over 30 with that mileage, if you're not in a hurry for the money, throw a for sale sign or list it somewhere and just wait for the right buyer ;) |
If you dont mind sharing, why are you selling? It hurts me when someone sells a brand new car like that.
|
Right now (in my area), dealers are selling used 2011 sports base 370z's < 3k miles for about $30k. You figure they make ~$1k profit, so an offer to buy at $29k is about what'd you'd expect trading it into a dealer.
Of course, you'll make a lot more money if you sell privately so I'd go that route. |
I paid $33k for my new 2012 pearl, manual sport package in January 2012. The 2011 model would be a better deal at around $25k-$26K, this is the real amount the dealer paid for the car.
Kelly Blue Book shows the current value of the car to be $35K retail , $30K trade in. Subtract the $35k - $30k = $5k price spread. Now subtract the $5k - $30K trade in vaule = $25k dealer wholesale price. This is the best way to calculate the dealer whole price or cost they paid for the car. Also take into account you will be able to buy a new 2013 Z with the same package for around $33-$34k shortly and the 2011 model is going to be almost 2 yrs. old shortly and value on a 2010 model equiped the same is only $28k trade in. |
The Z is holding it's value surprisingly well. OP, it's a fair value if you sell it at the dealer, but I would def sell it on your own if you have the time. You'll get a lot more for it and the person who buys it from you will get a better deal than buying from the dealership. Go to Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book and see what it's worth to buy, sell or trade.

How soon can you find a private buyer that will pay 30k+ for your car?
No disrespect, but I rather buy a brand new 2012 OTD for 36k than buy your 2011 for 30k + tax/title/fees. Just saying. |
If you don't mind me asking... why are you trading or selling your Z to the dealership? It seem to have really less mileage.

Edit: If it's a Base/Sport. $30k with TTL comes out to around $32,500 (($30k+$600+$500)+8%tax). Still significantly cheaper than $36k OTD. |

The dealer is giving a fair price and making this easy. I see this as an open door for him. In 4-5 months the car will be 2 years old and they won't give 29k. He'll take a loss either way. I know he'd rather hear..."list it privately, someone will pay 34k". Maybe so...one born every minute. |
Sorry. Typo. I meant 30k with ttl included already. Around the number the dealer was offering.

Thanks all for your input. I think it is time to either fish or continue to cut bait.

The car sold today and I was paid 31250. In the end I wwas happy and the buyer was happy. Win Win.
|
Good job. It did not take all that long to net an extra $2250.

What will your new car be? |
Thanks. I came to the sell/buy price based on what I paid for the car and it's extended warranty and the warranty's sell back value. In the end I am out 250 dollars. I figured that is pretty good for owning the car approxiamately 18months.
Right now I am banking the money and looking. I had some ideas on what I wanted but the person did not want to sell at this time. So a new car is not out of the question but a collectable classic is also a consideration. Someone in the thread mentioned earlier of the upcoming 2013 models coming out. I had agreed with those thought's knowing if I was to sell the car it had to be soon. |
