Is this a good Lease Deal

I was just quoted a lease on a 2012 370z touring with the sport package. The lease quoted was 409/month. Is this a good deal or can I do better?

How much down? Length of term? Miles per year? Residual buyback?

ironjoe 07-23-2012 03:30 PM

2999k down, 39 months, 10,000 miles a year (weekend car).

I do not know the residual buyback, but based on the lease stipulations for the base model I would estimate around 22k as the residual buyback.

Is that 2999 a general down payment or are you paying off taxes and docs?

lease

Never put any money down on a lease! If you pull drive the car off the lot and it gets totaled you will loose every doller that you put down. I am curently leasing a 2012 base with sport package with 12,000 miles a year for 39 months for $420 a month and I did not put anything down. My buy out is $21,500 so I would bet that yours would be about $25,000 if you put $3000 down. Hope this helps! Ken

Just test drove. I see why u guys like it so much. Probably going to sleep on it once they give me the details of the deal.

ironjoe 07-23-2012 08:26 PM

Well, here is the breakdown. I think I can negotiate further but since I wanted to sleep on the deal they were hesitant to deal further tonight.

This is for a touring model with sports package. NO nav.
Vehicle Price 38363.00
Taxes and Other fees 2800.00
Total 41463.00

Residual 23500.00

These are the payments they gave me with the different amounts of money down. Obviously I wont do the 3500 down as that is paying more than the fees in money down.
1500.00 down, 452/mo
2500.00 down, 425/mo
3500.00 down, 397/mo

Let me know what you guys think about those numbers based on the purchases you have made. I would really like to be below 380/mo or so if that is realistic.
I'd also be ok with no money down and a little over 400/mo.

You shouldnt have to pay taxes on the price of the car when you lease, they only tax you on the payment

Depends on the state.

cossie1600 07-24-2012 11:10 AM

ouch then it makes no sense to lease

DR_ 07-24-2012 11:19 AM

In Texas it usually doesn't make sense. However I did lease an '12 Accord SE w/leather for my wife since there was a temporary deal from the state to lower the sales tax to 2% from 6.25% and the dealer was doing a deal for $199 /month with $0 down.

ZeeingAround 07-24-2012 12:43 PM

Yep,
Depending on the state, total taxes due on the vehicle is a ripoff. So don't lease in that state. ;)
I would not put 3K down on a lease car, not even 1K.

ironjoe 07-24-2012 12:51 PM

My state is currently ky. Im not sure what the lease taxes are here but the quoted number makes it seem like the state taxes the total value. Of course they knocked about that much off the retail price as well. Seems like an acceptable compromise. Based on my car buying habits leasing really is my only logical choice.

Colorado we only pay tax on the payment or portion of the car Total lease payments...

I have a lease payment of 500 including tax w/ 1000 down. I had 1000 bucks neg equity from the maxima i traded. My taxes are about 38 bucks a month 462.00 a month + taxes.

I think your getting a pretty good deal...Whats the money factor now?

Colorado's down fall...my plates were 795.00 for two stickers!!!

ironjoe 07-25-2012 09:00 AM

I test drove yesterday and talked briefly with the salesman. The 2800 taxes was actually not correct. Ky only taxes the payment. They quote taxes just in case you decide to finance instead. Money factory is something like .00092 i think. Around 2.2%. There is also 1000 dollars cash towards the lease figured into those payments. All those are before any negotiation whatsover. That was just thier initial quote. my goal is to get 400/mo with no more down than the first month's payment. We will see how good my negotiation chops are if I decide to pull the trigger.
