My friend just got a quote on his 03 350Z Enthusiast, with leather seats, hid, with 24k of miles and got 15k. That was from Car Max.

1. Got the VPP pricing voucher. (Thanks Robert)
2. Dealer found the car I wanted and made a deal to get it here tomorrow.
3. Got the loan through PenFed for 3.99%
4. Blind appraised my car at around $14,000. (2005, yellow, base coupe, 6sp, 31000 miles)
Edumunds says it should be trade-in for $14838.
KBB says $15000.

Drove an hour and half up to the dealer to close the deal. I was so excited! We were doing some paper work and he was gonna take the deposit to get my new ride here. In walks one of the managers...

Manager: "Ummm excuse me. How much did you want out of your trade-in?"
Me: $14000 we agreed on why?
Manager: "Says here it's only worth $7000 - $10000 max..."
Me: :icon14:
Manager: "I called several different lots and auction houses and they said it's only worth around $7000..."
Me: :icon14:..... Wait are you serious?:gtfo2:

Did I miss something? Did the value of 350z's magically drop over night? I looked at Edmunds, KBB, Auto trader and even Ebay. All cars similar to mine are going for $15000 - $20000. Even if they would have said ok how about 12k or 13k I would have done it... but $7000!? That's just insulting!

What do you guys think?

Cool. Thanks for the heads up. I may check out carmax this weekend and see about getting an appraisal. They told me yesterday that all Z's weren't selling very high due to the economy. What a load of crap. He said I would be hard pressed to get anyone to buy my car for over $10k right now.:rofl2:

How strange. I had my 03 Performance 350z (~80k miles, pristine condition, clean record, upgraded head unit, clear bra) quoted through CarMax and they were willing to only give me $7,000. I did a dealer trade for $2000 more than that, but that's I high as I was able to get (and that was after some pretty aggressive haggling).

Hard to believe that 50k miles would make that much of a price difference...

Depends on the dealer I guess, but he just went Wednesday. So this is new of a quote.

Wow! My dealer tried to sell me the yellow/black one when he couldn't find a non-demo solid red car. :) Small world.

The first dealer I went to offered me $13,000 for my solar orange 07 with 25,000mi. Told me it needed tires and the front bumper cover replaced. (some curb rash).

Second dealer I went to offered me $15,000. Told me he could just paint the bumper.

Third dealer I went to offered $16,000. I didn't really trust them due to a past experience and so I went back to dealer #1. Said "Match this and I'll put a deposit on the car right now." He came back with $13,000. $15,000 if i left in my Kenwood nav. I drove off thinking about whether or not I should trust dealer #3 and just as I got on the interstate on ramp my phone rang. Dealer #3 called back to offer $17,000 for the car since I told him an individual had offered me that the day before.

Keep at it and remember that any dealer you find can get that car or one like it!

I just got my 370 yesterday. They gave me $19,000 for my 2007 350 with 30,000 miles on it

Print out numerous copies from various sources, and give them back to him. Explain that this is the absoulte last time you are explaining it to him, and if he gives you any problems, leave!
